Forecast: Excitement with Occasional Terror

By
Industry Observer

Forecast: Excitement with Occasional Terror - that is what I try to remember to share with first time home buyers.  The excitement of searching for a home, then finding the right one, writing an offer - and best yet - getting that offer accepted!  Wow - it all feels so good!

But....then somewhere along the way, it's almost a sure thing that you will wake up in the middle of the night in a panic.  What have we done?  Is this the right house?  Should we even buy a house - it seems so risky!  Are we paying too much?  Will all of our furniture fit?  Will the neighbors be nice?  What if something goes wrong?

Buyer remorse

Ah yes - the moments of buyer panic!  Definitely normal - after all, buying a first house IS a big deal.  But remember how we included lots of addendums to make sure that if something truly does go wrong - with your loan, or the appraisal, or the inspection, or the title report - you will have a way out if you need it.

Trust that moments of buyer terror are absolutely normal - and then let the excitement return because owning your first house is going to be amazing!

Such a frightening time...especially now with all the horror stories out there.  It's nice you let them know what to expect and that their feelings are normal.  Your guidance and reassurance must make the process less stressful!

It does seem to be a little reassuring to know that these feelings are really normal - & it doesn't mean they've made a horrible mistake.  And usually the panic passes and the excitement lasts!

Neat post and oh so true!  It is normal to feel panic when buying a house. But we are there to help them through the rough patches.
