Ahhhh The Loveliness Of Positive Thinking (I love my market)

When people make comments to me about the current market conditions, I smile and tell them that I nevermind the little things ;-) I'm always thinking positive and trying my best not to let anyone or anything define my success in whatever it is that I choose to do. I always think from a mindset of "Well there's closings everyday, people making the decision to buy a home everyday, people making the decision to sell their homes everday, and most importantly, there's closings everday." In any market, no matter what the condition is "suppose" to be, there's always people who manage to survive and greater. With this being said, I think the law of attraction reared it's beautiful little head yesterday when I read the front page of the Philadelphia Inquirer "What's Your Home Worth" was the title of the article.

Just as I had been telling myself for months, the market is not dead. The home prices are showing to be stable and rising and NOT falling as some would believe. Philadelphia and surrounding areas have not been affected by the massive foreclosures that have been flooding the news, in fact we're not even on the top ten list. Homes ARE still selling. We are NOT bad off. Yes, homes are staying on the market 13 days longer than last year (66 days vs. 53) but they're still selling and this even depends on the neighborhood. I recently had a listing that sold before I could put a sign up. Buyers are loving the Germantown, Mt. Airy, and West Oak Lane sections of Philadlephia. Buyers are also loving Delaware County. Sellers in Upper Darby in particular should be really happy. Indecisive buyers should know that they are competiting with other buyers in these areas. I had two indecisive buyers for both areas who snoozed and lost in both areas multiple times. If a market is so bad, why do my buyers have to make their decisions so quickly because if they dont, they house they fell in love with today will be gone tomorrow? I recenlty had this happen a couple times. The homes were litterly there today and were gone the next. I love my thoughts, they always prove me right.

Dee, it is nice to see that there are still positive thinking people out there. It is a choice that we make daily. Do we want to expand on the positive or the negative. Great post.

Good for you!  One great thing about market corrections is they keep the market affordable. They also weed out the get rich quick agents who aren't very good & just started for the quick buck.  Good agents, which it sounds like you are, will still succeed & flourish!  Keep your positive outlook & you will go far!  Good luck!

Dee, I have been in the business since 2003, and I also agree with your thoughts on positive thinking. My positive attitude gets me through many a situation that would otherwise be considered damaging. For example I have worked for the postal service for over 21 years. For the last two plus years I have worked as a Supervisor, and I have been blaming the enormous amount of stress in my life on being in this position.

Well, in November of 2006 I decided to recommit myself to Real Estate. I promised myself that within one year I would be a full time Real Estate Agent. At the time part of my goal was to resign from the Post Office. This part of the equation has not materialized, but in April my opportunity presented itself. It came in the form of a custodial position. I could probably guess what many of you are thinking; isn't that a pay cut? Yes, it is a pay cut, but it's also an opportunity for me to do what I love. I love real estate, and my attitude about the market mirrors yours in that buyers are continuing to buy, sellers are continuing to sell.

Dee, I become a full time real estate agent tomorrow (10/13/2007). To many I look like a fool to make a move like this at a time like this, but I see me in the mirror. I made the right move, I have faith and they can't take my joy.

Ken,

Wonderful news! Congrats on your step to full time. I find that my attitude and my positive thinking manifest what I want. I have yet to have anyone turn me down and I really believe it's the positive energy. I don't think you're stupid. I think you're a winner. Anyone who makes their own destiny is a mogul in my book...YOU ROCK!
