Today, a friend and I headed out to enjoy a pretty day in the Florida Sunshine. We crossed the Melbourne Causeway to Indialantic.  We figured we would go and see what was going on at the Boardwalk on 5th Ave. They were having a Skimboarding Contest.  There was quite a crowd.  There was a nice breeze and the waves were perfect good for the contest. We stayed for awhile and got some great shots.

Then we decided to head over to the Downtown Eau Gallie Founder's Day Fish Fry.  It took a couple times around to find a parking spot.

We sat and listened to the band that was playing for a bit. It was a bit of older southern rock - good stuff. There were some feet that were tapping. There wasn't a cloud in the sky, and no humidity in the air.

There was an art show with different artisans there and a woman was sitting at her canvas painting a picture in the midst of the crowd.  She was fully engrossed in what she was doing. Her painting will be beautiful when she finishes.

The Walgreens Health Mobile was on site. They were doing free health screenings.

We grabbed some fresh produce from the farmer's market.  My favorite - fresh fruit. I love it. It all looked so good and the prices were quite reasonable.

And, then the orchids caught my eye. The first person I thought of was Toni Weidman, as I know she loves orchids. And, I know she wanted to head over to the Founder's Day celebration.  She has quite the green thumb.

There was an entire section dedicated to the history of old Eau Gallie (a section of Melbourne). It took us on a walk through the 1900's. Having been in Melbourne since 1975, I remembered some of the places featured in the pictures. It was interesting.

There were a couple of neat old cars there, too.

I promised I would bring some pictures back for my friends, Kevin May,   June Tassillo , and Yolanda Gilbert. Wish you all could have been there.

We stayed at the Fish Fry for a couple of hours.  It was such a gorgeous day, being right near the Indian River Lagoon, with the fun, the sun, good food and entertainment.

We didn't want the day to end.

I have to agree with Ann, do you ever have any bad days in Melbourne?

Thanks Sandy, we've definitely been having some 'Chamber of Commerce' weather lately.  It's been very welcome.

Sandy, somehow the video of you skimboarding did not appear.  Thanks for the car shots, that old Model A Ford looks like it could've been my Great Grandmother's.  She was a Cocoa beach resident and I never saw that car leave her garage, she did let us sit in it though!  Somehow she knew if we got it out on the road we'd probably wreck it, so funny, but she was probably right!

Looks like a gorgeous and fun day, Sandy!  If you could only see our weather today you would understand my sudden pangs of jealousy :-)

Kathy, It is really a pretty time of year. And the weather certainly couldn't be better. We have been so fortunate. The art shows and outdoor events are a favorite of my also.  So many great things to do at this time of year.  Oh Miss Kathy, I did not get an orchid.  Although, I was tempted.  But, I am not very good with flowering plants. I'm great with outdoor plants, but it would have been a shame to bring one of those beautiful orchids to my house. It would be wilted in no time.

Lou, It was a really pretty beach day. And an awful lot of other people felt the same way.

Ann, We have been lucky, we've had some pretty spectacular weather.

Paul, Yes, sometimes our weather isn't picture perfect. But at this time of year we get much more good weather than we do bad.

Gabe, I hope it's a perfect day to showcase that attractive list of open houses you've got scheduled for this afternoon. What a great way for buyers to spend a day.

Gary, Oh, we are so spoiled, aren't we?  I just can't get enough of this beautiful weather.

Now Kevin, I've been on a surfboard back in my younger days, but I've never tried skimboarding.  These guys are the ones to watch.

I bet as a kid it was a treat sitting in Grandma's old Model A Ford. Is that where you developed your love of cars? I can see why Grandma didn't want you out on the road joy-riding.  What ever happened to the car? Do you know?

When I see an old Ford, I think of my visits to the Thomas Edison and Henry Ford Winter Estates in Fort Meyers.  It's been one of my favorite stops, even as a kid. With the old cars, the memorabilia and the pictures, I've spent hours there. And the grounds are breath taking.

Mary, I hope that your weather is getting better than it was. You must be tired of it by now.  I'm not big on the cold. Come on down to Florida and have some fun in the sun. I'd love to have you! It would be a great time.

Sandy,

You are such a doll; thanks so much for the pictures of the fish fry made me wish I had been there. I just love that Fish Fry cake it was gorgeous and looked yummy at the same time!  The pictures of the classic cars was great!  The picture of the art was very interesting and the fruit looked yummy! Thanks so much for getting the pictures I thoroughly enjoyed them. I may have to hop on a plane this spring and get down to your part of the world. Thanks again!

Toni, This is one of my favorite times of year also, when it's just starting to get warm, but there's no humidity in the air.  It's so pretty.

Yolanda, I am so glad you enjoyed the pictures. The only thing better would have been if you had been there. You'll have to come on down sometime and I can show you around the area.

Hi Paul, How have you been? So you hit the beach too?  Did you get to the Skimboard contest?  Hope that you are staying busy.

Sandy ~ I am so jealous dang it!!! What a beautiful day for this too it looked like.  Thanks for all the pictures to make me wish I was there.  Some cool cars there and I would have liked some fresh veggies & fruits. Sorry it took me so long to get over here.  Had a few days of being sick at home but much better now.

Oh and I did make reservations for Daytona Bike Week. We will be there March 5-13.  How far away are you?
