I collected all single family home data about Des Plaines, IL from MLS and made this easy to understand chart so we can see the real estate market trends for the past five years.

As we can see below, there were 738 properties sold in 2010 in Des Plaines, IL with an average market time of 181 days. Average sold price was $170,829

The current average listing price in Des Plaines is $205,020. Slightly higher compared to the average sold price at the end of 2010. As I type the average market time is 187 days and there are more than 250 homes available from $200,000 - $400,000 price range. If you are thinking of buying a home in Des Plaines, don't wait, as we can see there were 558 homes sold in 2008 compared to 738 in 2010. I’ve always wondered, does 187 days on the market mean that the homes are not priced right or that there are no buyers. Perhaps a combination of both?
