When most people think of Austin, especially if they have not been here, they think it is flat and boring like Dallas and Houston. On the contrary, the western part of Austin is incredible. Look at this photo and see for yourself.

I created photo albums a while ago on my website so people could have a better understanding of what Austin is really like - and some of the photos are amazing. Well, the photos aren't amazing, what is in them is!
To the right is the Pedernales River from Hamilton Pool Preserve last November. The Preserve is around 45 minutes west of downtown Austin.

West of Austin in the Hill Country is Lake Travis. Winding 63 miles through the , Lake Travis is just another little jewel that people wouldn't expect to find here.
OK, photos are a great way to show off an area and I have plenty that will do just that, but more ecently I had the idea of uploading videos to my site. I've only done one, but it is pretty cool. The video starts looking west over Lake Travis and panning to the north and then to the east before it ends. Taken from the new glass ballroom at the Lakeway Spa & Resort, it shows off the lake pretty well.
So here is my challenge: Rainers, let's post videos on our websites that will help people really understand what our areas are about. My first can be seen at the bottom of my Lakeway Photos page.
Any takers?
You make me want to come for a visit. I just love it down there.
