My Little Girl Just Turned Five....The Doctor Says She Needs to Lose 10 Pounds!

Yes, my baby girl just turned five years old on Saturday. I can't believe how time flies!

We had a party for her with party hats, grilled hamburgers and cupcakes of course.

At our last trip to the Doctor we were told she needed to lose 10 pounds but we didn't want to start the diet on her birthday. So, do you think I should have her join AR's group "Take It Off in the Rain" and have her weigh in every week or is that too harsh??

Since I was just downloading the party pictures to send to Grandma, I thought I would share a couple here:

First, Sally (on the right) and her big brother Timber had to get a bath for the party...Not Happy!

Then, the big day started at the Park....well, the Dog Park, where running and playing with all the other 4 legged kids is something they both love to do.

At home the party begins with the Party Hats. Every little girl needs a Princess Hat!!

After a dinner of grilled hamburgers comes the best part..... Cupcakes with Sprinkles!!

And since the color for 2011 is Honeysuckle (Pink), every girl needs a Pink Pig.

Back to reality today after a big weekend. So...the diet starts. For Sally and for Mom.

LOL Mel. Almost. My husband takes the suburban to load up. And lets not mention the amount that comes out the other end!

My kids spoiled Kathy? Never. Well okay yeah they are. We are pretty good about keeping them exercised except when it is below zero. Then they get a little antsy and their weight goes up!

Shar, just put those "horses" out to pasture...... how do you handle 2 dogs THAT BIG????? I have to tell you that both dogs are "so cool"!!! But my god.... they are huge! To keep my lab's weight down, I feed him in the a.m. , then 1 milk bone, and a smaller "dinner". But most important, of course is regular exercise and "play".... at what they do (my dog is a retriever.... so he likes to have something to chase, carry in his mouth, and then "tug" and "shake" as if he were "killing it").

Well......maybe on special occasions Jane.:) We need to get her more exercise and hopefully the sub-zero temperatures are over so we can do that.

They are actually very gentle Teri. My luckily I have a husband that helps. It would be difficult to get two in and out of the truck, etc if it was just me. My dogs have no retriever instincts. If you throw a ball out in the yard they stand and look at you like "Well what did you do that for? Now you'll have to walk out and get it" And we do!

Shar - I meant to ask you months ago when I discovered you had your beautiful dogs . . . do you have this print? I first saw this when I was about 4 or 5 years old and demanded that my parents get me this dog!

Love that painting Susan. Yes, I wish I would have bought it when I was born, ha. Wow....$610K. I have a small reproduction of this. My other favorite St. Bernard picture is called "On Guard" from the late 1800s. A little girl asleep at the beach while her Saint stands over her on guard.

Ah gee thanks Mary Lou. I don't think she is looking too bad with the extra weight either. And she runs and bounces enough even with the weight!
