International Real Estate. The word International by itself conjures up images of castles, estates and villas scattered around the globe. The reality is not so far from the image. As more and more people turn to real estate for investment, and diversify across the countries that permit foreign ownership, so does the need grow for familiarity, experience and a network in the international arena.
Consider a country like the UK, where sending a 2% referral fee to an estate agent is more than double what they would receive for a "usual" transaction! I think they would have an interest in that type of deal. I also think that those relationships are best established face to face, rather than solely by the web or by phone.
There is no doubt we have buyers in our market that come from or live in the UK. There is no doubt that some or most of them do not include their UK estate agent in the process of finding competent representation in another country. It's about time they did. Perhaps a trip to the UK to network with agents there would reap handsome rewards?!
