Pay It Forward: Just Pull Forward
Typically when I'm stopped at a traffic light I like to have a bit of space between me and the car in front of me. Yesterday, on my way to drop off shirts at the dry cleaners, I was stopped at an intersection. At this particular intersection there are 2 left hand turn lanes, 2 straight lanes and 1 right turn lane. Unfortunately the right turn lane is not very long. So often times someone who wants to turn right has to wait for the light to change to green so that the straight traffic can make room for the right turn lane. Make sense so far?
While waiting for the light to change, I noticed a car coming up behind me with the right turn signal on. I quickly realized there wasn't enough room to get around me to get to the turn lane. Thankfully since I had allowed a bit of room between me and the car in front of me, I had some room to inch up. It was just enough space for that car to get around and make the turn. The driver gave me a wave of appreciation as he made his turn.
Sometimes Paying It Forward is just a simple gesture to show someone else that their needs are important too! His wave to me, made me feel good too! :-)
