Windswept Acres Public Workshop - Wednesday, February 23, 2011 - 3 pm - 5:30 pm at 5385 A1A S. at Windswept Acres Park.

Windswept MotelThere is a public workshop today, February 23, 2011 at Windswept Acres Park from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. to review design renderings for signage at the park. The workshop is being set in the park to gain a sense of place. In case of rain, the workshop will be held at the Saint Augustine Beach City Hall located at 2200 A1A S.

In 2007, St. Johns County along with the Scenic & Historic A1A Council was awarded a National Scenic Byway grant for exterior educational interpretative sign improvements at Windswept Motel.

There are three educational interpretative signs to be designed and constructed. The architect will present three options.

Please join  Scenic & Historic A1A for public comment and review.  Pass along the announcement to anyone you may know who is interested.  This workshop provides an opportunity for the public to offer comments on designs for signage at the Windswept Motel.

The historic 1950 Windswept Motel is located 7.5 miles north of the Flagler-St. Johns County line at Windswept Acres Park and is a reflection of what was an emerging post-World War II commercial traveling business in the United States.

Additional grant monies are being sought to renovate the Windswept Motel into a future educational rest stop on the A1A Scenic & Historic Coastal Byway's corridor.
