I was thoroughly excited when I heard that DeSigned to Sell was going to air 5 nights per week, weren't you? Come on let's face it, we are all HGTV Junkies. If I am not staging, then I am rearranging my home, or watching someone on TV rearrange someone else's home, you know you do the same thing.

Anyway, here is what I am noticing. RERUNS, REPEATS, SAME SELLERS, SAME HOUSES. Could it be that in HGTV land that even THEY cannot convince sellers to STAGE?

Think about this! Do we have that much of a hard sell before us? As the cold lonely winter rapidly approaches, the real estate market goes into hybernation along with the grizzlies. BUT, this is the time sellers and realtors need to think ahead.

Once the holidays fade away, emergence of the first bud will appear before you know it and BOOM the spring real estate market will be upon us.

Sellers get on board and call us in to Stage Your House to Sell. Why wait until Spring?

You're so funny, Phyllis - maybe HGTV is having a hard time getting sellers on board after all....but we do know better, don't we?

I used to work next door to a nursery and watch how they handled merchandising their plants during every season.  There was a rhyme and reason to it all.  Naturally they were busy April through December because of the planting cycles and holidays, but come December 26th, the property took on a whole different look.  Gone were the plants, the decorations...everything was stark and just 'laying in wait'...but it was during this time that they were rebuilding plant stands and ordering supplies for the spring when business would start back up in earnest.

This time of year is a great time to reflect (on past success and failures), evaluate (what can we do to build upon our success and avoid problems in the future), and plan ahead for the coming 'busy'season.

We need to use the time to our benefit.

Staging It Forward,

Val

Good points and comments- we stagers need to be marketing to homeowners and realtors now to help them get ahead of the rush in the new year!
