As an Accountant, you can imagine that going paperless is against my grain. Aren’t we suppose to save EVERYTHING in paper form for 7 years? I like being able to touch and feel the transaction. I loved the tape on a calculator spitting out as I keyed the numbers in. I’d still be using Greenbar paper if Excel wasn’t so dang easy! I love my blue for buyers folder and my green for sellers folders with all the documents neatly stacked inside. So, this challenge was indeed a challenge for me to get my arms around.
But, enter Keller Williams and their newest technology release called eEdge. It is a company-wide paperless transaction system. It uses Zipforms to write the contracts and allows you to open viewing of those to the buyers, the buyer’s agent, the Lender and the Title Company. eEdge will utilize DotLoop, an industry leader for sending, signing and managing documents online. We will be able to manage the transaction from start to finish without paper. This will be the 1st step in my paperless plan. And since it is a company wide transition…it is the beginning of the plan!
As many of you know, I have finally made peace with my iPad. During my week at the Keller Williams conference; I took copious notes on every session and then emailed them directly to my team members who were not able to attend. How cool was that; I didn’t have to manage my writing style, make copies of the notes and create more paper! I’m one of those that critiques my writing during the sessions; on the iPad it is perfect manuscript! The iPad is great to give to clients too; rather than the cumbersome paper MLS sheets when touring homes.
Speaking of the iPad…the apps are amazing. Consider Drop Box where you can sync and share my files with my team. The perfect place to store documents that can be accessed anywhere. This is the 2nd step in my paperless plan.
I spent some time at the vendor fair at the Family Reunion and am quite taken with the NeatCo ND-1000 Personal Scanner. It will allow me to scan receipts, documents and even business cards by category! It is the 3rd item in my paperless plan. I didn’t actually buy that yet, who knows…I might win the competition with the Kodak Scanmate!
Everywhere I look, Green is in and while it does go against my grain, I get it and I’m in!
This post is written as a submission to the ActiveRain & Kodak Paper-less Challenge contest. I have the chance to win the high speed KODAK SCANMATE i1120 Scanner, great for helping real estate professionals reduce their stacks of paper by scanning contracts, photos and business cards in seconds.
