Why buyers are not buying in La Quinta, California

I feel many buyers now are thinking of why they do not want to buy a home rather than why to buy a home. It is funny some of the reasons buyers use for not buying a home. Here are a few reasons we have been getting:

1. Prices are going down more

2. Interest rates are going down more.

3. The economy may get worse

4. All kinds of little reasons- carpet wrong color, paint wrong color, no pool, bedrooms too close to great room, exposure wrong, HOA dues too high, don't like tile and/or carpet, price too high, neighbors too close, HOA does not cover enough.

There are many more reasons we hear on a daily basis. We role play these objections in our office. I have not seen the market like this that people have so much resistance to buying. I sure hope this changes soon.

Lori,  your buyers have to get a clue.   Rates aren't going down and prices are stabilizing(true in your area?) so they best act or be like all the people that stayed out of the stock market after the recent "collapse" when there were bargain galore that many made a killing on as the stock market rebounded.

Down times are times to make the long term investment!!

Ask them what kind of "rate" they are paying on rent. I rented an apartment for roughly 750 a month for four years. That's 36,000 bucks in rent to a landlord! To this day I still use this example with buyers and end with "how much have you given to your landlord"?
