Tulsa homes for sale in midtown Tulsa are much more expensive per square foot than the larger and newer homes found in south Tulsa and surrounding suburbs. The strict boundaries of midtown Tulsa are downtown to the north, 51st Street to the south; Riverside to the west and Harvard to the east. Some will stretch the the eastern boundary to Yale, but the more traditional "midtowners" object. One of the many established and loved midtown Tulsa neighborhoods is Florence Park - known for its smaller bungalows, varied architectural styles and manicured lawns. Typical lot size in Florence Park is 50-feet wide by 130-feet deep, so the homes are close together and many homes share a driveway. As homes are remodeled, it's easier to find homes with contemporary upgrades inside, but you can't tell from the outside. Swan Lake is another revered and popular midtown Tulsa neighborhood, and as its name implies, Swan Lake is filled with beautiful swans and a majestic fountain. Swan Lake boundaries are 15th Street to the north, 21st Street to the south, Peoria Avenue to the west and Utica to the east. Walking distance to Utica Square Shopping Centre, Saint John's Medical Center, Cherry Street and Woodward Park, Swan Lake is one of the more revered historical neighborhoods in midtown Tulsa. Nothing speaks to the history and indulgence of the early Tulsa oil boom days as much as the revered Maple Ridge neighborhood in midtown Tulsa. The northern area of Maple Ridge was once referred to as the "Silk Stocking" district, and Madison Avenue within the neighborhood was patterned after a Paris boulevard and once referred to as "Black Gold Row." The first Tulsa area to be listed on the Oklahoma Landmarks Inventory, Maple Ridge's large lots and properties were governed by the state's first subdivision regulations. Its boundaries are the IDL to the north, Hazel Boulevard to the south, Peoria to the east and the Midland Valley Railroad to the west. Of course, Brookside in midtown Tulsa is "the place to be." Brookside extends from 31st to 51st Street along Peoria Avenue with Riverside Drive as the western boundary and Lewis as the eastern boundary. The Brookside area is known for its trendy restaurants, night clubs, coffee shops, and a variety of locally-owned retail stores. Tulsa homes in the Brookside area were built in the 1920s and another spurt in the 1950s for growing young families. Young professionals find Brookside a great place to live, as it's walking distance to Tulsa River Parks' cycling and jogging trails and a short commute to downtown Tulsa. Visitors flock to downtown Tulsa because it stirs up memories of the hustle and bustle brought about during the great oil boom days in Tulsa. Known around the country for its rich art deco architecture, downtown Tulsa is home to many historical buildings, such as the Boston Avenue Methodist Church, Atlas Life Building, Philtower Building, Mayo Hotel, Cain's Ballroom and Ambassador Hotel. Embracing historic preservation has been the focus of Tulsa's downtown revitalization, and while trendy and contemporary lofts, apartments and condos are becoming available in our treasured monuments, the deep and rich history remains perfectly preserved. Also home to the new Tulsa Driller's baseball park, Tulsa Convention Center, Performing Arts Center and the BOK Center, downtown Tulsa is the place to go for ballet, symphony, rock concerts, shopping and outdoor ice skating. Not midtown, but two popular historical districts, Brady Heights and Owen Park are just north and west of downtown Tulsa and areas enjoying a rapid revitalization. Both areas are becoming popular alternatives to the more expensive homes in midtown Tulsa as the properties are restored to their original majesty and residents enjoy the proximity to the many popular downtown venues. From territorial days until the 1920s, Brady Heights was an important part of the then fashionable north side of Tulsa. Young professional businessmen and oil men owned homes there. This is a wonderful post and I grew up in midtown, but never knew it was called that!  I loved Swan Lake and Brookside was where I would hang out all throught high school... on the "restless ribbon"!  :)
