RainStorm in Anaheim was a success!  My topic was on Foursquare...  And using it to grow your business!

Many have asked me if I would post my slides, and share with the AR community what my presentation was about...  So I converted it, and am posting it here!  The event had 10 slides for me, and they auto-clicked to be sure that all the presenters stayed on task.

Foursquare - Presentation

This was my first slide.  Just to remind everyone to be a fan of mine on Facebook.  :)

Foursquare

Foursquare can be found at www.foursquare.comor on the iTunes app store or the droid store.  Download the app, as it is a geo-location based micro-bloggin type app.  The usage of foursquare is skyrocketing, and it is growing across the globe!

Foursquare

HAHAHA!!!  As you know, when you check in, you can make it public to others.  However you can check in and not show anyone, making it a private check in.

Facebook

First thing we all need to know, is that using foursquare is a mobile phone thing. It uses the cell signal to triangulate your position to help you check in to various locations. The more you check in, the better chance you have to be awarded badges.  This awesome badge, is one of the more coveted!

Foursquare

So you ask yourself "Why become the mayor?"...  The more you check in to locations, the more likely you will will have a chance to become the mayor.  The "mayor" is the person that checks in the most at any location...

Foursquare

If you are farming a goegraphic area, then you should try to be the mayor all all local business in that area.  So if the people that live in that farm are using foursquare, then when they go to the dry cleaner or grocery store, or bank or gas station, they will most likely check in to that location using this application.  Soooo...  When they check in, it will show them YOUR picture, and YOUR name as the mayor of that location.  So if you mail the farm, door knock the farm, hold open houses in the farm...  This is just the next logical way to SHOW your farm, that you are local!  HYPER-LOCAL!

Foursquare

Leaving tips is also just as important!  As people check in to locations, a "tip" will pop up along with the author of that tip!  So the more tips that you leave, the more your sphere of influence will be touched by you.  Leave tips saying nice things about the establishment, etc...

Foursquare Badges

Okay, one of the fun things to do, is to earn badges!  It is like merit badges in Boy Scouts... LOL!  The more badges you have, the more other users of the app will think you ROCK!  I'm at 71 badges as of today....  You?

Foursquare

You can also link it to Facebook, so when you check in, or earn badges...  It will post it to Facebook.  Now this option can be turned off at any time.  So if you check in privately, this link will not be active...

Foursquare

An finally, my last slide.  I was on stage talking to the group, so I had to post the "pouty princess" from Foursquare...  As all the attendees started shedding a tear, as my time was up.

Hope everyone has a great day!

:)

I'm sorry I missed it but I had other plans. I think I am going to look into Foursquare. Thanks for the motivation.
