I agree with your take.

It's all about the bucks...anywhere. Today I got a "referral request" for a buyers agent through AR. It wasn't a "real" AR referral, just an attempt to sell bogus leads.

Everyone is on AR for different reasons.  We're all looking for referrals, some are looking for new ideas, I'm learning how to write a successful blog and AR wants to promote their membership by showing that it can result in additional income, thus the giant checks to help justify the monthly dues.  There are a lot of good things here that many of us can benefit from.  It's true, the checks can be a little commercial but I'm sure that person is very proud of that accomplishment and the check is more of a trophy than a brag about their income.  Behind the check, there could very well be a touching tale of helping someone that had little hope of owning a home that they were able to help.  Maybe just the communication between many of us is worth the price of admission.  Sharing positive thoughts and ideas sure beats the negative things we all witness every day out there in the real world.  I'm enjoying the positive aspects of AR and I look forward to reading blogs from the members, with or without a check.  After all, these days everyone gets a trophy but not everybody gets a check. 

Troy:  It is actually a "Plug", for Activerain and how using Activerain and blogging about our Local areas can bring buyers....nothing more.   But I really do see how it could be taken as a bad measure!
