Are You Refer-able???

I was recently reading an article by Joe Stumpf, founder of By Referral Only, and in it he was talking about the qualities that make someone "Refer-able".

As a mortgage consultant here in Nashville, TN for the last ten years, I have received my share of referrals from clients and other industry pro's and I always consider it the ultimate "job well done".  But do you ever really look at what makes people recommend you?

According to Mr. Stumpf in this article, the qualities that make your refer-able are:

Be On Time

Tell The Truth

Do What You Say You Are Going To Do

Hmm...sounds like good advice for any aspect of your life.

This is some pretty basic stuff.  You shouldnt have to buy the latest "How to be a Top Producer, Little Golden Book of Sales" Book/DVD box set to know not to lie, right?  In fact, it has a bit of that "do unto others" thing to it.

In the end people will recommend someone they care about only to someone they respect.  So, respect their time and show up on time, respect them by being honest and doing what you say you're going to do.  It all feels like it should just go without saying, but we all know it doesnt.

Have a good weekend!

All good suggestion. I cannot stand to be late, and I cannot stand not finishing on time. I always pad my time a little. I would rather be an hour early that 10 minutes late.

I would have to agree. If someone I am doing business with is late I can't stand it. So , why would it be ok for myself to be late? It just wouldn't !
