I am The Lion! in the Serengeti
" For the lion, it’s all or nothing. If their strategy fails, they go hungry. For us, however, it’s all about organizing our thoughts, ideas, experiences, skills, expertise, and expectations to accomplish a desired goal.
Strategy is not just about the end; rather, it’s the means to that end. For that reason, sound strategies must be flexible, not rigid. In its simplest form it’s a basic roadmap—albeit one that involves and incorporates change. This might make it not only difficult to accurately read at times, but also one that’s somewhat dependent on future uncertainty. "
It is amazing to think of little ol' me being characterized as a lion. But, it dies fit. I relate in my desire to open my own brokerage for the last four years. I had a purpose, and a goal, and strived to work daily to achieve the goal. There was a strategy and direction to everything I did, and still is. I have goals that stretch out as far as ten years from now. If something changes, I have the ability to shift with the wind to correct the direction. I am not rigid, only looking ahead to the eventual goal.
Do I know all of the obstacles and roadblocks that may spring up on my journey? Can I possibly predict the road my journey will take? No, but I do know where I would like to aim and a strategy to get there .....
The book's first two chapters were wonderful, as they drew you in to the beginning of the story of the Serengeti and all of the relationships and traits of the animals. It is definitely a book I would like to read further.
Once you download and read the first two chapters, and take the quiz, they ask that you write a blog post about the first two chapters or the quiz. Share what you think about the parable of the animal skills, or the suitability of the Serengeti as a metaphor for your own journey through life. Take a look at your results from the fun three minute quiz. Do they ring true for you and your business? Do you see yourself in the challenges and anxieties faced by Sean Spencer, the tale's protaganist? Pick your own topic about which to write.
