Surviving the Serengeti of Life...   Elephant

I read the first two chapters of Surviving Your Serengeti  and then took the What Animal Are You quiz and found out that I embody the Communicating Elephant. The Elephant is mostly known for its size and shape but possess a variety of amazing abilities.  They are known for their remarkable sense of hearing and communication, they use this mainly for survival.  These are skills in Real Estate that are integral for my "survival".  My business consists mainly of short sales, which means that my clients have many questions and they want clear concise answers.  I work hard to listen to my clients needs and wants and translate that into successful business dealings. This is how I have clients that return to me for future business and also give me great referrals.

While reading Surviving the Serengeti I really thought about the parallels of the Serengeti and life.  The Serengeti can be very beautiful and fruitful and then in what seems like the blink of an eye; it will go through long periods of drought that brings harsh living conditions and often death.  This mirrors what has gone on in the real estate business.  Real Estate was booming in California and many Realtors made a "killing" and were living high on the hog but in recent years the "drought" has affected many. I have seen many Real Estate Businesses close and Agents that could no longer make a living.  This is where preparing for the dry seasons will save you.  Live within your means, take care of your family first, "listen" to what the real estate market is saying.  These are the times to be inventive.  Learn how to market yourself in new ways and be a survivor.

Adam, it's so interesting to discover how your placement changes over years. Picture yourselt 5 years back and then 15 year forward. What a change!

You're now the second person I've read about that scored as an 'elephant'.  I'm sure there are a few other animals I missed.  Will have to keep watching for these posts - they're very interesting.

Oh, great and wonderous "elephant".... you are sharing your ageless wisdom here.... you make great points Adam, especially "to take of family first" (as the families of elephants do) If you are the father of young kids, these are difficult times to get through..... wishing you the best and continue to let those "elephant" characteristics and wisdom guide you.... I am in good company of the crocodile (but I secretly wish to be an elephant)..I just noticed that the Author, Stefan Swanepoel has commented WOW, way to go Adam...
