Are You Lost? New Listing Presents Hidden Opportunities!

I was listing a home on Lake Isabella.  For those of you unfamiliar with this beautiful area it is located just 15 miles west of Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan.

The home is a Chalet style with many amenities which I will provide in a listing post.  I had completed the listing documents, had taken inside photos, place my yard sign, secured the Realtor access lockbox and was preparing to take the outside photos as my final step.

Here is one of the outside photos.Castle Dr Lake Isabella, Michigan Call Gary White 616-784-2360 for Virtual Tour Link  This beautiful home has composite decking, heat pump open floor plan, laminate flooring, 3 bedrooms and more. www.FlexitRealty.com

While taking the exterior photos I saw a couple young children coming down the road.  The little girl looked to be 4 or 5 and the boy about 7 or 8 years old.  I snapped several angles of the homes as they moved closer.

Once the children were within 30-40 yards I could tell something was wrong.  I asked if they were OK...the little girl burst into tears and with a little persons voice almost indistinguishable said, "we are really lost!"  Then she cried harder.  I gave her a little soothing pat on the head an told them we would go to the neighbor who has lived in the area 18 years.

My new client is a retired school teacher and has lived in this beautiful home 18 years.  Best of all her last few years teaching was 1st. grade!  I walked with them to the door.  Introduced them as lost souls.  They were frozen with wet gloves, no socks in their damp boots, hungry and scared.

They were not from the area.  They were visiting their grandparents.  They had bikes, ventured to far and every street looked the same.  My new client sat them down after were removed wet gloves and boots.  Her teacher mode turned on and offered them some food, a warm drink and explained we would call the lock police to help them.

About an hour later the parents were located and the children reunited.  They had traveled approximately five miles without proper clothing.  They we alone and lost.  The officer was mad when he interviewed the children.  They didn't know a phone number, an address or exactly where they had been or come from.  We finally were able to get the name of the step father after they had calmed down, warmed up and eaten.

The officer was very comforting the children but I would suspect his attitude was not as understanding with the parents.

All ended well and my new client flopped on the couch after all was done and said, that was nerve racking!  Then she added those poor kids.  If you had not brought them to my door what would they have done?  I don't know but I do think we are placed where are supposed to be at the right time.

I think see did all the work I just ushered them to her door!

Neat post Gary. I don't know if you put it in "Paying it Forward" but it belongs there and in some of the Christian groups. Way to go and how great that you stayed the whole time.
