Electronics Recycling – Sunday February 27th, 2011 at Epstein School from 10-3

While out showing homes today in the Riverside area in Sandy Springs, GA we came across a solution we’ve been looking for with respect to disposing of old electronics we are no longer using, but don’t want to just throw out.

The Riverside Homeowners Association shares that Epstein’s Middle School Students in conjunction with Telecycling is having an Electronics Recycling Day on Sunday February 27th, 2011.  Times are from 10-3.  This is part of the Student Council's "Green Planet Project" to collect and properly recycle electronic equipment and keep it out of our landfills.

Items welcomed are:

·  Cell Phones (All types, we will take it in pieces)

·   Batteries (AAA, AA, C, D, watch, button, hearing aid, cell phone, computer, camera…etc. or any vehicle or power machine battery)

·    Computers (All types, any shape, we will take it in pieces)

·     DVD players, Stereos, Speakers, VCR Players, Game Systems

·    Cables, Chargers

·    Microwaves, Toasters, Refrigerators…any home appliances

·    Any metals, Cars, Motorcycles, Bikes

·    Any electronic items not listed here that has a circuit board

For any additional questions you might have contact Telecycling’s Alex Razmazin at 404-812-1739 or alex@telecycling.net

What are you doing tomorrow?  I’ll be over at Epstein dropping off some electronics I would rather have recycled than end up in a landfill.

That's such a great idea, Michelle! More cities or counties need to do that to keep them out of the landfill. Lots of really bad stuff in electronics when they're left to rot on their own (not like they can actually rot)... We are very lucky in Edmonton, we have ECO-stations and can drop off things like this any time. They charge you by the carfull or truckload, a nominal fee and I can tell you there is always a lineup to get in. Great post to let people know for your area!

Peg,

Sounds like the area you are in is a lot smarter about handling recycling.

All the best, Michelle

Michelle, I've found spots for my cell phones, but not the chargers and such.  I'm sure people will appreciate knowing where to drop off used electronics in Sandy Springs, GA.

Funny but, I just walked into my garage today and there is a stack of old electronics that I have been meaning to 'cart off' for months and haven't gotten around to it!  This would be the perfect outlet to do that!  We need one of these 'events' here!

Hi Michelle, this is a great service. You can get rid of your electronics and helping the environment at the same time. Works for me!

Juli

My husband was there about 10:01 dropping off some old electronics.

We had the same issue.  Such that as soon as I saw the sign, I asked my clients if I could take a minute to get the information and the picture, as we REALLY needed to get rid of some old electronics.

Jackie

I thought so, wished I had realized it earlier, so I could have posted it sooner.

All the best, Michelle

What most people don't know is a lot of those electronics have mercury in them and that is why it is so important to dispose of it properly.
