Lonely, So Lonely, I Want To Go Home!

The Tree Top Bird Center in Richardson, TX had some really nice exotic birds but they were: Lonely, so lonely, really, truly lonely, they have nobody and they want to go home... That's why these very expensive birds are now up for adoption.

This is Toby, he said, "I'm lonely!".... "Please take me home with you!"

Toby has his fingers crossed that somebody will adopt him, because lonely Toby wants somebody to want him.

Hey, pssst.... check this one out. This pretty bird was trying to tell me to find the keys and get him out of the cage. He said it feels like jail and he wants OUT! He wants to be adopted too! You could even name him Jail Bird, he doesn't care! Just get him out of there!

See this blue one, he said, "Don't pay attention to that that crazy bird in the cell next door, "I'm the real deal. "I want to go home with you. Adoptions can be arranged very easily. I'll even keep my room clean!"

See this one on the lady's finger? This lady is a REAL bird lover. She already adopted and then bought four birds from this store. Plus she has rescued two dogs and a couple of cats. She's so dedicated to the cause, that she comes to visit this one in particular every day and she will continue to come there every day until somebody adopts him! He really needs a home and he will never leave you.

Okay, are there any single divored people who are looking for a long term relationship? This bird is the perfect solution! Instead of wearing a wedding ring, you could wear a bird!!!

Are you afraid that if you adopt a bird that you'll forget about it, well check this one out! How could you miss him or forget he's there? This one was hanging on to this poor lady's hand the whole time I was there! I'll bet you could hang your car keys on this one and you'd never lose them!

Now here's a love bird and this one was very affectionate. The lady in this picture works at the store and they have bonded. This bird is no longer lonely, but you can TRY to adopt it or purchase it... if it will let you.

The Tree Top Bird Center in Richardson is a nice place to visit. The staff and the birds are friendly too! Do you know someone who has a birthday coming up and you're not sure what to get them? How about a bird! They make great pets! Plus you can buy food here too and visit as often as you'd like!

Laura,

I completely understand. It isn't fair to own a pet if you're not there long enough to enjoy it. Pets require a lot of responsibility but they do make nice gifts for people who stay home. Some of the nicest retirement homes I visited had birds, cats and dogs for the elderly and they seemed to enjoy it a lot. When kids have pets, the burden of responsibility tends to fall on the shouders of their parents.

Michael,

I couldn't answer your question about the dusty feather odor. I think it depends on how sensitive you are to bird feathers. When I was a little girl, my grandfather (mother's father) raised canaries and I always enjoyed visiting my grandpa and I learned a lot about caring for birds. I never noticed an odor. My mother on the other hand, must have had allergies to birds. She couldn't stand it and she couldn't sleep on feathered pillows either. Whenever she walked into a room or a house, her body reacted.

Birds are beautiful. I love the fact that they come in such a variety of sizes and colors.

Cindy,

You're absolutely right. Birds can and do live long when they are properly cared for by their owners. Mother nature takes good care of them, doesn't she? Isn't it sad to think that most of the world's problems are caused by man?

Georgina,

Me too! I was pleased to see how the people who came into the shop were eager to just give the birds some attention on a Saturday afternoon. Birds make great companions, but people have to be prepared to commit and accept responsibility. Birds depend on people for food and water.

Darcy & Tony,

Me too! I would hate to think that those birds would spend the rest of their lives locked up in a cage. Plus, I also get nervous just thinking that if that pet store doesn't make a proft, what will happen to the birds? With today's economy and budget cuts, etc., everyone is suffering and making changes. I'm noticing more and more stores going out of business lately. Have you noticed out there in Utah too?

Hi Michelle,

Toby was cute but he appeared a little nervous to me. I couldn't help but think to myself, every animal, like humans have a past. I think this guy Toby really needs a break and I hope he gets a new home and a GOOD home too.

Richard,

Hot chili peppers? Are you kidding me? I can't imagine a bird eating something that spicy. How long did he live?

I once onced a Cockatoo but it never uttered a word. Maybe it's because I only fed it bird seed/water and I should have been feeding it chili peppers.

Chris,

That's really nice that your brother collects and cares for birds of all species. It must be in the genes. Birds of a feather flock together!

Patricia, I bet some of those birds have large vocabularies.  Birds can be great companions.  In your area do you see exotic birds like these in the wild?  I hope these birds do find good home.  Beautiful colors!

This is now FEATURED in the BIRDS Group!

Patricia, I sure hope they all find great homes.  The blue love bird really looks out of his/her comfort zone.

Thank you Gloria! I sincerely appreciate being featured. It's so nice to hear from so many ActiveRain members who can easily express their feelings and share their love and concern for birds. Thank you for starting the Bird Group. It is truly appreciated by many.

I have not seen any exotic birds in my area in Texas but I have seen Pelican's on the Gulf in Padre Island while they were migrating and that was a day I will never forget! Also, I was lucky enough to see a bluebird during the month of April a few years ago during the Bluebonnet season.

I truly hope that these birds that are now being featured do find homes and that people who can not adopt or own a bird continues to care for them in nature. We have so many opportunities to care for God's creatures and they deserve our respect. Thanks again Gloria.

Pat, I am happy there are others who enjoy birds like I do.  When I am with my local friends who have the same passion we often remark how it is hard for some people to understand our joy of feather critters.  So hanging out with them is fun.  It is great to hook up with such people here too.  A lot more varieties of birds sightings here!

Have a great weekend.

Gloria,

It's so great to hear from you. As they say, "Birds of a Feather Flock Together!" I'm so glad you have put this group together. There are those that don't understand, but I say, "bird feathers!" I have to be true to who I am. I love to visit and feed the birds. I call the ones that visit my bird feeders or rest upon my shrubs or trees my Frequent Flyers!" They give me great joy and it makes me have a joyful heart to know that the world is spread out by others like you!

Thank you again. I'm enjoying this group. May you have a blessed weekend with friends, family and birds alike!

Hi Debra, better late than never! I'm glad to know that you've been busy and that you were able to stop by to enjoy the photos. Out of all the parrots, I think the African Grey is onw of the most intelligent. Their vocabulary is pretty amazing! Thanks again for stopping by. I really appreciate that!
