Popcorn

Yes, I know, this is such fluff...but hey, who doesn't need to relax and just think about the Academy Awards. Don't lie, I know you're dieing to sit back and critique those red carpet snafus. So grab your popcorn..wine and cheese, or whatever, and watch the show.

So for full disclosure, I'm going to say that the only movie I've seen that is on the list is The Social Network..and only cuz it was on the airplane coming back from vacation. Lately, going to the movies has been more of a bother to me...so I usually wait until they all come out to video.

So with that, I'm going on guess work here and on who some of my favorite actors are. Of course I've seen enough trailers for all of these movies ..so know a "little" about them. I'm also only gonna pick the three top choices...do you really care about the sound editing award?...and while I'm on that..why is it always those obscure award winners that thank everyone from birth to that moment. I digress...Here goes:

Best Actress: I'm going with Natalie Portman. I've loved this actress since she warmed my heart playing the old and wise beyond years young girl in the movie Beautiful Girls. I thought watching that years ago that she was going to go places..and here she is.

Annette Bening, "The kids are alright",

Nicole Kidman, "Rabbit Hole"

Jennifer Lawrence, "Winter's Bone"

Natalie Portman, "The Black Swan" *** My pick

Michelle Williams, "Blue Valentine

Best Actor: I'm going with Colin Firth on this one. I loved him in one of my favorite and quirky movies Bridget Jones Diary, and just watched him in " A Single Man"...just love him.

Javier Bardem, "Biutiful"

Jeff Bridges, "True Grit"

Jesse Eisenberg, "The Social Network"

Colin Firth, "The Kings Speech" *** My pick

James Franco, "127 Hours"

Best Movie: I'm going to take a stab at it being between "The kids are alright", and "The Kings Speech", but going with the King's Speech"

The other nominies are "The Black Swan", "The Fighter","Inception", "127 Hours", "The Social Network", "Toy Story 3" (odd one there), "True Grit", and "Winter's Bone.

So what are YOUR picks for the winners?

Hi Sally and David, it's so true. You know tomorrow and all week they'll be running the clips of who wore what...or who wore very little. It's become just the norm now. Whoever wins, they are all real talented!

Cindy, Fluff posts are just fine with me. The less technical the better in fact.

As far as the Oscars go I'm SO out of the loop. Good for you for taking a little time to see some good movies!

Cindy, I am just so behind in the movie world that reading your post was all new and interesting to me! Haven't seen ANY of those movies and I can only picture about half of the faces to the names...and to show you how shallow I like my fluff, I really only like watching awards shows to see the, ahem, dresses. ;)

Hi VB, This is by choice yes?? Probably not missing too much and get lots more accomplished by not watching the ole tube.

Hi Charles, I'll probably see most of them after the awards when they come out on video. I used to get out and watch movies in the theatres..but it's been a while. I have no patience for sitting through the "20" then another 20 minutes on previews before the movie.

Hi Leilani, Me either..in fact I haven't even heard of a few of them. Just sitting here watching the show and curious about who wins. The outfits are fun to see as well :)

Wasn't that a fun (and totally wasted 3 hours of my life that I'll never get back!)  Going to buck up and see The Kings Speech tomorrow, though...unless of course, the real world of Real Estate gets in my way!  Cheers - Wendy

Hi Cindy,
Looks like you were on target.  Did you buy a lottery ticket too?  Noticed you are getting close to 100K.

You were right about The King's Speech - one of the only ones I haven't seen yet. I loved Social Network, The Fighter and Blue Valentine. I cried at Toy Story 3 (my son left for college also). I'll have to catch the others. BTW, Bieber was really good. My teenager flatly refused to go but, my husband agreed (lol).

Hi Wendy, It was at that. I always have my laptop going when I have the TV on...so updated some links on my website while taking in James Franco in a dress..LOL. Hope you get to see the movie..but then again, hope real estate gets in your way as well!

Hi Mel, Nope, no lottery ticket..maybe should have! I usually get em wrong. I'm still shaking my head at how you went from a couple thousand points behind me to around 8,000 ahead of me..leaving me to eat your dust trails! LOL. Well played Mel..well played. :) Seems like these last points getting me to that 100K mark have been taking me forever!

Hi Jill, You make me smile. I consider any movie that can illicit tears from me a good one. Now I know why Toy Story 3 was on the list. It looks like your daughter misses out on a good movie with the Beiber one. Your Hubby sounds like a good man for going with you knowing there were probably going to be lots of screaming young girls.
