Today was Beautiful in Charlotte, NC ... First Signs of Spring!

Today was absolutely beautiful in Charlotte, NC....we are beginning to experience the first signs of spring. The sky was a gorgeous blue and the temperature was 82 degrees.

I asked my 87 year old mother if she would enjoy taking a ride to see if we could see any spring blossoms. We saw many Bradford pear trees that are full of buds and will be in full bloom soon if the weather stays like this. As we got closer to the city the more buds and blossoms we saw. Many people plant pansies so they were in full bloom with lots of color. We even saw some early daffodils in bloom...love that smell.

As we drove through Dilworth and Myers Park I actually stopped to take a few pictures.

This was a beautiful flowering tree. The colors were spectacular!

This was a lovely Camellia in full bloom and covering this fence. My mother and I actually went shopping afterwards and purchased three beautiful Camellia bushes. I want them to hang over our fence. So beautiful.

I am definitely ready for spring.

Hi Judith. Awwww Spring. I can't wait. I still have a huge mountain of frozen snow in front of my house. My husband said it would take an ice pick to break it up now. It does add a little challenge when I am backing out of the garage.

Hi Judith - Don't ya just love this time of year here in central NC! The redbuds are blooming here, too. I absolutely LOVE Camellia's. I have several in my yard, some bloom in the spring and some bloom in the fall. They are a wonderful addition to any landscape. Best of luck with yours!

Hi Belinda, it is so hard to imagine that you have that much snow when it was in the 80's again today and very warm and balmy...almost like Miami. We are having terrible thundertorms tonight but am happy for the rain. I hope your ice melts soon. Be careful!

Hi Juli, I love spring and it is difficult to keep me from planting and digging. I am always looking for new things to plant to add to our gardens. Love it.

Judith - They can get rather large...I guess I would consider them a medium size shrub. The great thing is...you can train them or shape them into anything you want!....A tree-like form, a bushy form, a topiary form, and so and so on.
