Elizabeth Weintraub's Home Office in Land Park Gets a Makeover

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

Elizabeth Weintraub's Home Office in Land ParkI am more excited today than I was the day I discovered I could buy sticky replacement keyboard keys to place over my worn out keys. That's because over the weekend I received a brand new desk, hutch and chair. A client gave it to me. She is moving from what was once almost a million-dollar home into smaller accommodations, and she had originally planned to leave her home office furniture behind.

Looking around at my dismal office set-up of press-board furniture, it dawned on me that I probably deserved better. Hey, it was only a few years ago that I donated my bean bag chairs and got rid of my water bed. Growing up is hard to do. Buying grown-up furniture is expensive and, not to mention, time consuming.

I asked my client if she would consider giving me the office furniture. She agreed. Well, first she had promised to leave it for the buyers, so she had to get their OK, but they were good with it. I would not have expected her to break a promise to them. We're only as good as our word. Our word is precious.

The home office furniture is beautiful. Stunning. My new desk is 33-inches deep. Plenty of room for all of my equipment. If I had gone to a furniture store and stroked the wood in person I could not have found a better collection of home office furniture. It's so wonderful to be able to open a file cabinet drawer and not have to balance it with my knee.

It's the little things in life that can bring enormous enjoyment. Thank you, Deb. And thank you for choosing me to be your Sacramento listing agent.

P.S. And below, are two recent photos shot by my husband of our new kitten, Jackson. I must need my head examined to have adopted a kitten. He is a terror. He is worse than the energizer bunny. But I love him to pieces.

Awesome! I'm slowly taking the furniture apart in my NY apartment and have been giving things away. You are inspiring me to do something with my mess of a desk (LOL). I've had my drafting table since high school and I don't know if I'm going to be brave enough to place it in the trash... Hmm... We shall see. I could definitely use a make over. :-)

Ah, C, you are understand, I see. It's difficult to change out your surroundings when you're so used to the way things work for you. I tend to subscribe to the "if it ain't broken, it don't need fixin'" theory. But we can all use improvements to make our lives better.

I've been debating an office makeover for a couple of months now...I think your surroundings have a great impact on your ability to be effective!  Whether that is the color on the walls or the desk your stuff sits on,  it's all important in the big scope of PRODUCTIVITY!

By the way, caught your HOUSE HUNTERS episode this weekend...I must have missed it last year when it originally ran.  I was sitting there watching with my wife and was like "hey, I know who that is!".  A little bit of celebrity!

Elizabeth - I'm so jealous!  My home office is in desperate need of a make-over but you are so right about nice office furniture being expensive.  On another note, love the pics of Jacks.  He looks adorable but looks can be deceiving - right.  LOL  Have a good week Elizabeth.  :)

Elizabeth - Must be a spring thing--I spent Friday afternoon sprucing up my office and on Saturday I organized my home office.  Yours looks like a lovely place to work--love all that natural light too!

Well, Ron, I am blown away that an agent in Texas even knows who I am.

Hi Donne: That little Jackson -- my husband calls him the tiny fink. He is always up to no good. If he's not chewing the laces on my husband's shoes, he is sliding around on my files. He has toys from end of the house to the other, but his favorite is always what he's not supposed to chew on or a stupid wadded up ball of paper.

Hi Norma: Now that I've moved my monitor -- because the keyboard tray for this desk is on the east and not the north -- I now need to buy solar blinds for my office. Too much light on my monitor, LOL. But I am loving the new furniture. It took me a good 6 hours to move everything out, throw away crap that's been piling up for 9 years and reassemble and reconnect all my equipment. It's a royal PITI. But oh, so worthwhile! I'm not doing this again for at least another 10 years. Darn, next thing I know I'll be getting a new car when my 11 year-old vehicle is just fine as it is. Ha, ha, fat chance, I don't have time to shop for it and I sincerely doubt a client will decide to give me a new car.

Elizabeth ~ It is good of the buyers to let up on the sellers word. These look wonderful in their new home. It is always nice to get a fresh look. It makes you want to get up and out bed in the morning to start work, NOTTT. Why the heck did I say that????

I remember the day I bought my first "big girl" desk.  I still just love it.  The one thing I kind of don't like is it only fits in one spot (L shaped) in the room that has two doors and two windows.

That looks great and I'm excited for you too.

I've been working on my home office too.  Not as elaborately as are however!  What is that device to the far left in the photo.  I can't quite make it out!  I know one thing for sure, when you and I got into this business, we likely never imagined technology would play the integral part of our business as it does today.  There is nothing better than working from a home office, and having a cat rub up our legs every once in awhile!  Jackson is so adorable!
