I thought they were all Native American words. We have a lotof Native named places in Canada as well. In fact 'Canada' in one native language means 'Village". Cute joke!
That's hysterical. You folks must have a whole lotta fun trying to get your GPS devices to find the right city for you. Some of the pronunciations for mine are unbelievable.
Too funny! Thanks for the pronunciation lesson. I would have a hard to spelling those let alone saying them!
Kevin - Seeing as I have family in so many of these cities I can pronounce almost every single one of them.
Hi Kevin, from a person that has lived in several places and mispronounced sooooo many names, I love this. A very valuable post for those that are moving to your area. I went through you list before looking at the pronunciations and messed up on most!
Kevin
You missed one West Bend - wes ben Have a great day
Rick
Peg, I thought Canada had French names?
Karen, the GPS has come a long way as many of our address begin with multiple letters and numbers, ie N94W17900 Appleton Ave
Carrie, definately a learning curve, and then you have to throw in the Wisconsin accent, hey der!
Michele, what a small world huh. I can't wait to call you and chat.
Hey Cindy, The funny thing is, is that this is a true story about the guy and Burger King
Rich, LOL, I just had to say it out load!
I can pronounce most of those...kids were born in Racine (that's an easy one) but I'm from a town Mishawaka in Indiana!
Cindy in Indy
Kevin, that's what he gets for not asking.."Can you say the name of the town am I in?" instead of "Where am I?". I can see the person behind the register looking confused when spelling that out slowly. Too funny.
