Did you make it to the Philadelphia Suburban Home & Garden Show this weekend out in Oaks at the expo center. I did and saw some interesting things. Because I am sick to death of snow I gravitated towards the hardscaping exhibits. This one below is from DeVine Escapes, the wall is dry mounted natural stone and he is now starting to branch out (excuse the pun) into using branches for arbors and gateways, really nice display, small but obviously talented. He can be reached at 610-301-4269.

Some of the larger firms had large exhibits, I liked this fountain  from Eternal Landscapes based in Boyertown. I am a sucker for water in a yard/garden, and have been meaning for the past few years to add a water feature in my own yard, bit I don't think it is going to be as large as this.

Probably more along the lines of this display from James Ponds, based out of Bucks County they create waterscapes and fit them into many small spots in Doylestown back yards, they are certified Aquascape Contractors and were involved in the installation of water features at Disney's Epcot Flower & Garden Festival with Aquascape Inc. Don't you just love all the flowers in these displays.

Spring is almost here, and the few warmer days without rain have allowed us to get outside and start clearing up and making plans for the year to overcome our main pest deer. Just today Trudy was planning plants that deer don't like, some we already have like yarrow, seems they don't like the smell so we just have to spread them around a little. CKC also were at the show, a West Chester based landscaping company they had some nice hardscaping and some colorful plans and shrubs.

So as I said a couple of weeks ago, start planning for your summer now, it is in the early spring that you need to do the work to have a relaxing summer enjoying the labor you put in early.
