The King's Speech

Way back (or at least it seems like that) on 12/28/10 I saw and reviewed this movie.

(Geofrey) Rush plays a speech therapist who came to the aid of the Duke of York (Colin Firth), later to become King George VI of Britain, who suffered from a debilitating speech impediment. The movie is a delightful study of British Royalty and of the interaction of a commoner (an Australian, without formal speech therapy qualifications) and a King (needed by his people to be a leader in dark times). Inspirational and feel-good, the movies charms all the way. It is an example of dedication and persistance, and of doing, what you have to do, well.

I put it as my pick for 2010. Hope you enjoy is as much as I did.

Sine December, I have seen the movie again, and not only do I still agree with my assessment but now The Academy also concurs and has richly rewarded the movie and its lead actor.

If you haven't seen The King's Speech yet, make time. You are in for a treat.
