Grow-Ops in Alberta

marijuana grow operation in a homeThere's an interesting video online with an interview of George Fowler, a representative of the Alberta Real Estate Association. It was interesting to hear his estimation of their being 7000-8000 grow-ops in Alberta.  That's huge. 

I had some clients interested in seeing one a while back.  When I found out the husband suffers from allergies and asthma I highly recommended they focus their attention elsewhere. 

As mentioned in the video, the one aspect that isn't properly regulated in Alberta for remediation of these properties is - Air Quality Testing.  There are 4 or 5 varieties of mould where the spores can lie dormant for years. 

When asked in this interview if George would purchase a remediated property for his children - he simply stated, "no".  The standards are not yet high enough, but hopefully will be soon. 

Another legislative change that is being pushed for is for the fact that a home has previously been a grow-op to be registered directly onto the title so any dililgent home buyer can find out.
