This is more a question to everyone, rather than a blog post. I am using a QR code on my new listing in Nashville (goes active this Friday). I was wondering if anyone has any tips on how well they work/don't work for anyone, and what age range tends to understand what they are and how they work. I actually printed out a little sign that says "SMART PHONE CODE" so that someone might 'get it' easier that way. I haven't seen any agents using them in my area yet, so I have lots of questions.

Anyone have any words of wisdom?

I use QR codes for each of my listings. I can't say that I have found a buyer as a result, but I have picked up a listing because of one. I have my QR codes on every publication that I produce for a property (flyers, door knockers, sign riders, online publications, etc.)

The one issue that I have is that my name riders are made by a local print shop. He custom ordered waterproof paper and ink just for these. I bought new blank name riders to stick the labels to, but unfortunately they are only 12" wide and appear too small from the road. They are recognizable, but I wish my labels were bigger.

I too am the only agent in our area currently using QR codes. But I believe they are the future of real estate marketing and I will continue to use them in any way possible. :)

Thanks Jim!

I am stepping into unknown waters, and am looking for any advice I can get on this subject. I have tested mine (they are probably a 'bit' too small) and a prospective buyer client might have to open the car door and get to within 4-5 feet of the code sign. This particular home is in a development with quiet streets, so it is probably not going to be an issue in getting close enough to scan the code from the car. I printed my own on paper, then laminated the code and it fits on the front of the brochure box. I might have to replace the code if it gets faded from sunlight, but that is a small cost and little time invested on my part!

Are you finding that people actually use the code? Are you getting hits (analytics) from the code?

Thanks for answering my post...I appreciate it!
