What Do You Listen To While Driving?

By

It is a rare time when I am not listing to The Wiggles or various KinderMusik songs while on the road.  To be able to not have "Skinnamarink" in my mind all day would be a welcome thing.

Today I going all around the Metroplex with four appointments between 8:30 and 3.  I am planning on burning through at least a half tank of gas and my rear end will be sore.

What a golden opportunity to listen to what I want to!  My dad has been in the sales industry for over four decades and he recently gave me a big box filled with books and CD's that will encourage and inspire the salesperson in me.  I will take this time to listen to something educational and motivating instead of the junk that clogs the airwaves.  Mid-afternoon, I may need a quick dose of the Black Eyed Peas or some oldies, but I will use the kid-free time to my advantage!

What do you listen to when you have the to be in the car for a long time?

All though I am a classic country buff, tend to listen to different sermon series from influential men and women across the U.S.  This accomplishes several things for me:  it's life changing, builds character, encouraging, and helps me focus on what I feel is truly important.  Faith is built upon hearing and hearing the Word.  And I haven't heard a successful business person speak on a topic that isn't rooted in the Word somewhere.  Even Zig Ziglar will speak to that!

OMG!!! I remember the wiggles days.... I can't say I miss them although this post made me reflect to when my son was little. I used to listen to motivating things in the car(I had a CD player than) With  my Ipod plug in I'm to lazy to upload podcasts so I just listen to music now. Mostly country which makes me smile. Good luck on your motivational journey and have a great day!!

I have three daughters and have done the Wiggles time. Right now it's a lot of Nickalodean's Phinneas & Ferb. I have to admit that thier theme song "gonna be an great day" is actually my phone's ringtone! Whenever I am going to be in the car awhile and I've planned ahead I try to check out motivational CDs from the library. I tried to listen to a online book once while driving across the state, but it nearly put me to sleep. I get into the motivational books and find myself talking to it too!

Short drives around town...ashamed to say Phinneas & Ferb rule!
Long drives across state...going to check out a Tom Hopkins, or other motivational speaker.

:)

I love books on CDs when I go on a long driving trip. But if I haul a 3-year old, it could be Barney, Cars or even Toy Story these days.

Justin-That's very true and where better to get your motivation!  If you haven't already, check out the pastor of our church, Matt Chandler, on iTunes.  Unbelievably gifted preacher who is currently in remission from a malignant brain tumor.  I think you will find him inspiring!

Joelle-We went through the Wiggles with my oldest and even went to their concert.  It was so much fun and her 2nd birthday was a Wiggles party.  There are definitely worse kid groups so I was OK with that phase.  I get a kick out of the giggles from my son when I sing "Fruit Salad" to him.

Jim-We LOVE Phineas and Ferb!!!  My daughter was Isabella for Halloween as a Fireside girl and it was such a cute costume.  The lead singer for Bowling for Soup lives in our neighborhood so we had to stop by and show him her costume.  Who would have thought he would end up in our little slice of suburbia!  I should look into checking out the CD's from the library.  I don't know why I don't think of that more often!

Loreena-I am totally on board with Cars and Toy Story but would gladly kick Barney to the curb.  That show is so darn hokey that I won't even let my kids watch it!

I heard some good stuff on the CD's yesterday and will post later.  have a great day!

Just you wait, I'm now stuck listening to "hip hop" and "top 10" type music!  When alone, I have to admit, I like talk radio.  It wires me up a bit and keeps me in the know.

Ah Laura, those were my single and married without kids days!  I still love to listen to that stuff every so often as does my daughter.  I have to be careful though...no one's ready for her to ask or inquire about certain lyrics!
