A Month in the Life of an Agent: Day 2

By
Real Estate Agent with BHHS Northwest Real Estate

Today started with a meeting with a title rep over coffee. Good conversation and a look at their newly redesigned home books. Personal relationships are the key to making transactions go smoothly so I think this was time well spent!

After the meeting I headed to the office for a one-on-one coaching session with our Branch Manager. He always has excellent advice and provides the tools and resources to assist me in building my business and completing my transactions.

All afternoon was spent in what felt like a never-ending paperwork tunnel. Reports, updates, addendums - they just kept coming! Seems like every time I crossed something off my list two more paperwork related items would get added on! I forgot to pack my lunch and ended up eating a cupcake leftover from a Broker's Open that one of the other agents in my office held today as my lunch. I've got to get better and remembering to bring something with me!

I also found a company to complete a furnace service call on a home I have in escrow, got painting bids for a home I have listed and made one showing appointment and one listing appointment for later this week.

My new view home listing in Edmonds continues to be hot - with 4 more showings today. Later tonight I am headed over there to take some additional photos and put a marker in the ground so that the sign company knows where to put up the For Sale sign tomorrow.

But first, it's off to Redmond to write an offer with a client on a new construction home. This is a bank owned property that just took a big price reduction and my buyers are excited to get their offer in. Bank owned properties are never your "standard" transaction - there are special addendums and several potential pitfalls to help the buyer navigate through. Could be a longer than usual offer signing.

I had hoped for dinner with my family tonight. My husband has offered to bring the kids and meet me between the buyer appointment and my trip to my new listing so that we can all spend a little time together. I suppose it does not matter if I am cooking the food or having it served to us - as long as we are together!

Tomorrow and Friday are starting to fill with appointments and To-Do items, but I've got my eye on Saturday where I have pledged not to miss a moment of my daughter's volleyball tournament :) Afterall, a flexible schedule is one of the reasons I became an agent.......

And people say that real estate agents work a few hours a week as the money comes rolling in!  Your day is a realistic snapshot of a day in the life of a busy Realtor.

Thank you Rick and Cindy! My goal is to share the details of my month so that myth that our job is easy and we make money for doing nothing is exposed as false!

James - It's true! without paperwork there would be no transactions! :)
