I just read the first chapter of AR's own Stefan Swanepoel's book, "Surviving Your Serengeti" available at Amazon.com.  Seems like it will be a good read.  Weaving an adventure and an education together seamlessly is a great way to learn life's lessons.  It's an unusual approach in the "self-help" genre, but one that apparently has hit home with a lot of people already.  The book is number 2 in several categories on Amazon.  You can take the "What animal am I?" test on the Serengeti Facebook page.  I'm a crocodile, thank you.

It got me to thinking.  What's your favorite "motivational' or "self-help" book?  I've read some, not too many.  One that I just started reading again is "Think and Grow Rich" by Napolean Hill.  It was first published in 1937 during the Great Depression.  It's message is as timeless today as it was then.  You and your own mind control your destiny.  By today's standards, it is a bit quirky to read because it is not so subtle as to it's message.  But it's a great book to read repeatedly, to make sure you get the message.

Another favorite is "The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren.  We're all here for a reason.  Perhaps it's selling real estate or doing mortgages or home inspections.  Whatever it is, do it with purpose.  Definitely not one for the atheists in the crowd.

Those are a couple of my favorites.   What are some of yours?

Good afternoon, Mitch. Regarding the idea that, “We're all here for a reason,” I can say that I have concluded that the reason we are here, is the reason that we define for ourselves.

Hello Mitch~ I'm almost finished with Surviving Your Serengeti and I have the other 2 books that you mentioned on my reading list.  Finding time to read a self-help book is always challenging.  I would much rather read a fiction novel and relax!  One of my favorites is Who Moved My Cheese.  I believe that most of us struggle with change, however change is one of life's constants so it's something we must learn to overcome!

Thanks Donna.  I got "Who Moved My Cheese" as a gift about ten years ago.  Yep, it was a good one too.  Reminds of the joke.  "How many Realtors (or Loan Officers or whatever other real estate related profession you want to pick on) does it take to change a light bulb?  Realtor's answer:  "CHANGE?!!!"
