How Do You De-Stress?

By

Lydia Lucas - De-Stress With the hustle and bustle of the Milford CT real estate field we tend to miss out on time for ourselves and loved ones. Completely leaving out room for "me time" is bound to burn you out. Sure, time is money, but don't forget about the law of diminishing returns ;)

Things You Can Do

Facebook
Yes, social networking is great, but to totally de-stress, you need to get away from work-related sites like LinkedIn and even here...ActiveRain. Even for a 15 minute break, you can interact with your family and keep up to date on events in their lives.

Read a Book or Watch a Movie
I'm sure you're not totally caught up on your list of books or movies to enjoy. There's definitely a book you've been dying to read.

Think you don't have the time to read? Set aside regular blocks of your time just for reading. This way, you can easily finish a book with a little bit of consistency. Slow and steady wins the race :)

With the Oscars on the other night, I'm sure there are more movies to add to your never ending list. Maybe trying putting together a list of movies (if they're your thing), and scratch one off every week or so. It helps me think about something aside from Milford CT homes for sale.

Find a New Hobby or Rediscover an Old Activity of Yours
Challenge yourself. Do something you've always wanted to do. Don't keep saying, "Oh I wish I could do this" or "I've always wanted to do this"...

JUST DO IT (as Nike once said...). Set aside the time, make sure you have the available resources, and just give it a shot. No excuses.

For me, gardening is one of my favorite hobbies. However, once I got into real estate, my time for this has gradually been disappearing. No matter what this spring, I'm whipping my garden back into shape.

It's these small activities that help you escape for the stresses of everyday life.

These Are Just a Few Suggestions

We always need a break from work. Once in a while, you'll be in a situation hitting your head against the wall and not getting anywhere. It's in these moments that we just need to step away from it all and enjoy ourselves.

How do YOU de-stress?
Post ways you ease away from the stress of the real estate world. I'm sure there are some people out there with awesome ideas :D

I have to go to work to relax. At home the walls close in on me. real estate isn't a job it's a passion.

Real Estate time is my Me time.

Hi Lydia, I agree with you in that de-stressing is important in our line of work. A "girls night out" or lunch with the girls is a great way to leave the work behind and network without the stresses of networking. Thanks for the great post.

Hi Lydia~  I guess one of the best ways that I de-stress is by being with my grandchildren!

Roger - now that's when you know real estate is your calling!

Jasmine - nothing beats time with the girls :)

Mahesh - I'd love to learn how to golf. My husband's currently taking lessons, so it's something I want to look into now.

Vickie - that's awesome! One day, I hope to be in that same position :)

J.A. - sounds like a triple threat to me haha. Great combo!
