I'd love your help in sorting this whole BlogRush thing out. There has been much written lately about this latest widget to hit our blogosphere. Many people here on Active Rain have voice their concern with driving traffic away from their site and questioning whether it's a great idea or not.
I like to keep an open mind since so many new tools and enhancements to blogging come to my attention daily. I have installed this widget on my Active Rain blog and my thought was that there are already 49,625 other member sites my visitors can easily check out so if I can pick up some extra traffic what's the harm.
On the flip side Teri Lussier wrote a post, What's the Rush? Or, why I'll get my hits the old-fashioned way- I'll earn them., saying why she wouldn't be installing it on her site - no how, no way!! Teri raised some great points and it got me thinking (So thank you Teri - I love looking at things from the other side)
Now let me be clear - I am with Teri when it comes to my outside blog - I proceed with changes and any additions with the utmost caution and definitely take a wait and see attitude. I don't see adding it on that blog for now.
So after reading Teri's article earlier today I was pondering how I feel about BlogRush - when I came across this article by Yaro Starak's author of the Entrepreneurs Journey (with over 5000 subscribed readers) today. He had written an in-depth article on Blogrush and his actual stats lending to a more transparent view of how effect it is right now. If this topic interests you I would highly recommend you read his article, My BlogRush Stats - Can John Reese Make This Work?
The surprise for me is that with Statak having over 11,000 impressions he only had 27 clicks through. Wow to me that seemed like a shockingly low click through rate. Then I had to think about my own experience. I have clicked on by own BlogRush a couple of times but usually it's when I see an article from someone I know already here on Active Rain - so for me it's more like another Active Rain dashboard which contains some of our outside blogs. So I believe people will either be happy with 27 more clicks than they had before (which was FREE) or they will decide that the risks of diverting people away is not worth such a small return.

For me the verdict is still out but the results are underwhelming to say the least. So what's your experience so far? Are you part of the BlogRush or ready for the whole idea to take a BlogFlush?
If you don't have the latest widget, BlogRush and want it you can click here to get it your BlogRush Widget
P.S. I wrote this last night before my internet connection went down and woke up this morning to this in my email from John Reece owner of BlogRush had a LONG email that starts..."ARE YOU READY? Because *everything* is about to change. Forget everything else up until now...PREPARE FOR *BIG* CHANGES"... so I went to check it out and here' s what I found..
...looks like they are working hard to keep the Rush from doing a Flush!!!!
