Several months back I was looking to upgrade my cheap $100 Kodak camera.  I just was not getting good quality photos and in large rooms the lighting was horrible.  So I looked and looked, shopped and shopped.  Finally made my decision and went with a Nikon D40.  I ended up spending around $1000 at Best Buy.  Got a camera, extra lens and I added an external flash (for better lighting).

Initially I wanted something with more mega pixels but I came to find out I probably could not upload these massive mega pixel pictures anyway or would not want to wait for them to upload.  This camera is very easy to use and takes great pictures on the "Auto" setting -- Point and shoot.  Now, there are better cameras that do more, if you know what you are doing.  If you want a good camera that is easy to use I would recommend the Nikon D40.  We use it for all of our virtual tours and get great pictures.
