Google Ad Words

By
Real Estate Agent with Remax Marketing Specialists

I have heard many things about Google Ad Words / Google Ad Campaigns....some associates tell me they have had great success and others have said it is a huge waste of money.  I know that the only way to really "test the waters" is to try it myself, but I am one that likes to hear from the masses :)  The more opinions the better!

I am not against spending money - goodness knows I have spent in the past on things I thought woud be a fantastic return on my investment.  We all make mistakes at times....hehehe.

At this point in my career I want to be making sound investments.  Google Ad Words are one of those things that keep popping back up and make me stop and think.  I can say that I personally don't click on Google results that appear in the right column - I also am one who doesn't click on the first 3 - 4 search results that appear (isn't that what Google says about "most" internet users??  I certainly fit that profile!).

Looking forward to hearing from real people - that have had real results (hopefully!) or no results (I'm sorry!) with Google Ad Words.

Google has set up AdWords so that it is much more difficult for you to find and advertise for your niche...that being said...if you find the sweet spot it can be very good.

HEllo Bonnie;

I'm like you- I've been hearing about google ad words for years (NEVER TRIED IT). It will be interesting to see what kind of responses you get on this one.

Bonnie,

I have tried Ad words and I also have google analytics on my website so when I get billed for several click thrus it makes me wonder where they clicked too! I wait until google sends me free dollars for ad words and then I try it again however I have never actually had a closing from google ad words :-(

Bonnie, we are still working on SEO for our site and in the meantime are doing google ad words, you have to be careful what phrases you use and make sure it is worthwhile.  We are on a budget of $50.00 per day with google and we average about 10-15 leads a week.  However we have to really hustle to convert those leads.  Best thing to do is to optimize your site and not pay google a dime but it takes time and $ and hustle to get it done, in the meantime adwords can work.  http://lehighvalleyhomes.tv

I'm not an agent, so my results may vary.  I spend about 100-150 per month on my niche, and have not been able to tie a transaction to Google ad words.  Having said that, in my lending business, I frequently get referrals from people who say:  "Suzie Smith gave me your name".  And it turns out I've never heard of Suzie Smith.  So I think people find me, and then add me to their database for retrieval later.

I've been using it, among other lending directories, for a little less than a year, while I ramp up my free marketing efforts.  When I think the time is right, and my Google Analytics says that I get more clicks from direct sources than Adwords referrals, I'll drop the Adwords.  But to start with, it made a big difference in site traffic, if nothing else.

I've often wondered about Adwords and if they really generate more than they cost.  I'm concerned that the clicks are real and not just added billing.  Do people in Pakistan sit around clicking Adwords to ring up the billings?  Trust but verify.  Thanks for the informative post and great comments.
