January 2011 Home Sales Trends - Ft. Worth, Texas

Real Estate Agent with Baton Rouge Area Homes

January 2011 home sales numbers are out for Ft. Worth and it looks like it was a tough month.  The numbers below are a roll-up of data from Ft. Worth, Arlington and Northeast Tarrant County. The numbers are weighted across all three data sets and Ft. Worth proper represents around 44% of the numbers.

There were 1,220 homes sold in January 2011 as compared with 1,913 sold in January 2010.  The average sales price is up to $177,600 and average months of available inventory is 6.7.

While I'm not one to blame the weather, hopefully some of the softness in January sales can be attributed to the atrocious weather Ft. Worth experienced throughout January.  We'll know more when February sales are published.

These numbers notwithstanding, the Ft. Worth/Dallas metroplex economy continues to chug along and generate jobs faster than any area in Texas.  This dynamic job market along with a fairly steady real estate market continue to drive individuals and families to relocate to Ft. Worth.
