What are the trends and the most sought of amenities the buyers are looking for now? Clients always ask me this question, especially when they think of remodeling. You may be surprised by the answers.Did you ever hear of a Snoring Room? Here is a quick look at the IN things for the home of today.

Snoring Room

Snoring Rooms

Yes – you heard it right –snoring room is the new IN amenity in home building and remodeling. The purpose of the room is to counteract marital discord associated with being banished to the living room couch. The snoring room is about 12 ft X 12ft and is adjacent to the master bedroom – so no banishment required. It is well insulated and has a comfortable double bed. Of course, it can be used for other similar purposes.

Forget the gym in your basement. We are talking about a new age, spa-like environment for stress relief. This is a room is for meditation, yoga, and stress relieving exercise. It can have a stem shower and other amenities you want to enhance relaxation and rejuvenation.

Heated Driveways/Walkways/ Patios

Heated Driveway

No more winter exercise with a shovel in hand listening to the warnings of how bad it is to their backs and hearts. People want these spaces heated, their backs protected and their energy used for exercising in the rejuvenation room.

These trends are outlined in Mark Nash book “Real Estate A-Z for buying & selling a home”. It does not say these trends are for baby boomers - I am just extrapolating based on my personal experience. Ah, a Snoring Room – what could be more romantic? Tss…I better keep this a secret for now – I am getting one for my husband’s birthday.

Missy, Maureen -thanks for coming over. I have to admit -I did not know about the trend. Selling the idea to the snoring spouse could be a problem. On the other hand, may be not -if they are told that it's the new trend and they will be the Cool people.

Faina:  Very interesting list!  It is useful for me as we get so many people from the North.  I have heard that his and her bedrooms might be coming so I guess that is a snoring solution!

Diane - Most of these trends seem to be applicable to all parts of the country, with the exception of heated driveways. I thought the whole thing was quite humorous, but the more serous take from this is that babyboomers are still commanding a big market power.

P.S. I appologize for the typo in the text - the system for some reason does not allow me to do any edits.  Recently, it's been very difficult for me to post or comment. All I can think of, is that some virus gets into some posts.

Hi Faina,
Now this is news to me.  I had heard about his and her master bedrooms, I thought that was the newest trend.  Thanks for letting us know.

Cynthia - it was to me too. May be his and her bedrooms was a better term then a snoring room, but still implying that the couple need separate rooms for what ever reason. Thanks for stopping by.

Faina- This is so interesting! A snoring room! and down here I suppose it would be coolers for the driveway so we don't burn our feet on the way to the car! Katerina

Katerina - at this I age I can definitely relate to the idea of a soring room. You guys are probably too young to see the benefit. This data is true, but I just wanted something a bit more lighthearted for the topic then the usual hard core real estate. Thanks for ALL your comments.
