Very affordable marketing idea...

With today's marketing dollars being squeezed by the "less than awesome income" that we've enjoyed in the past, we have to find ways to market ourselves at a lower cost.

The most cost effective one that I've come up with is magazines!  Yes, magazines.  Especially the FREE ones offered by using your airline miles.  I've subscribed to a lot different ones.  I place a "personalized" label on them letting the reader know that I placed them in the doctor's offices, lounges, hair salons etc. for their enjoyment at my expense.  I also remind them that when they are searching for a Realtor, I'd love to be their choice!  I put all of my contact information on the label and deliver the magazines monthly so it isn't just a "moment of fame" type of thing.

So far, I haven't gotten any leads from them.  But, I do KNOW that people appreciate them and enjoy getting them.  This saves the business owner from the expense of ordering them for themselves plus it gives me a reason to "show my face" monthly.  I'm doing this more for "name recognition" than anything.

I'm always trying to think of affordable ways to get my name "out there" in creative ways.  (trying to stand apart from the crowd)  If others have ideas for me, I'd love to hear them!

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog and I challenge you to "make it a Great day!"

I liked your idea. Another one you can use only maybe twice a year. For those of you that have a geographic farm. Think about signing up to work the polls (no not that shiny brass one) this next year we are will be voting for a new President. Primary's I think will be some where in the first half of the year and then of course the real deal in November. It is a great way to meet those folks that you door knock all the time.

Marty, I like the magazine idea. Another low cost marketing idea I've used is magnets. Think of all the houses you show with magnets scattered over the fridge. That is prime Real Estate! When you are on the fridge and your client has family and friends over, they are making a referral without saying a word. I send out hand written cards to follow up after a closing or to check in with past clients and always include a magnet.

OK, now that you brought up magnets, here goes...

I'm sure that everyone knows by now that the office supply stores allow $3.00 for each empty HP ink cartridge that you take into the store.  Well, I buy them on Ebay for about $.60 each and take them to the various stores offering the $3.00 deals.  I've purchased several hundred dollars worth of the inks on Ebay.  I'm sure you can imagine how many of the $3.00 coupons I've received over the past several months.

I purchased a large storage cabinet and it's now fully stocked with all kinds of office supplies which I'd purchased at $.20 on the dollar.  I buy the "blank" magnets with the adhesive on the back and put my business cards on them.  They are a very easy and affordable way of getting them out into the publics' hands.  Thanks Scot for reminding me of this and something else that I could share. LOL.

Hi Marty. I've heard about the magazine idea before, but I never followed through with it. Maybe now I will. Thanks for the reminder.
