I Wish My Buyers Would _____.

Be careful what you put in that blank!

Do me a favor and fill it in with YOUR thoughts... go ahead, I'll wait.Stressed Woman

"I wish my Buyers would _______________."

Got something? Here are some words that came to my mind:

... decide already!
... get in or get out!
... stop being so picky.
... get preapproved (yeah, that's a biggie).
... say 'yes' to that inspection.

Most Realtors have been playing this game for a while and maybe forget what it's like to be on the other side. Most of my thoughts focused around what the buyer should DO or ACT. Are we still in touch with how the Buyer is FEELING right now? It's a big 'ol pot of emotions and we need to be aware of that.

Here are some NEW thoughts that I'm putting in place of some of those first impressions:

... be happy with the choice they make.
... see themselves raising their family here.
... enjoy the neighborhood and what it has to offer.
... feel the BUBBLE OVER JOYOUSNESS with the job I did to help them find this place.

See how those first statements focus around ACTIONS we want them to take and the new list looks at the EMOTIONS we want them to enjoy? Be a friend and a wise counselor and we will guide our Buyers into that ________ place.

What are some of YOUR words (action or feelings) that you'd put in there?

Jay...I'm thinking, as we guide our buyers into that wonderful place.  Good Post!

My first thought was "get more realistic" as I have some buyers that insist on looking at homes they either cannot afford or don't want to spend that much. You made a great point here using actions vs. emotions and I'll have to remember this next time I'm with these folks. Thanks for the post.

What a great way of looking at it!  Fulfilling the buyers needs is infinitely more important than fulfilling my wants.  This is a terrific post!

Hi, Jay. This is a really excellent post!

I wish buyers would.....COMMIT TO WORKING WITH ONE REALTOR, and not be emailing four or five, all of whom think he is their customer! From there, the good feelings would flow, for both parties. When they don't commit, what you have are mistrust and hidden agendas, on everyone's part.

Great postive post Jay! My first thought was "get their act together!" I have had so many in the past few weeks who thought they were ready, only to find out they were months away from closing anything. I opt to make a conscious positive statement about each of my clients today. Thank you!

I'm with Arleen. Let's say "I wish my buyers would let this house touch them on an emotional level". And then sign the contract!
