Loan Modification event in Atlanta GA - This weekend March 4th through Monday March 7th, 2011 struggling homeowners can go to to America's Mart at 250 Spring St. Atlanta, GA to meet with representatives from their mortgage lenders to modify their loans. The loan modification event will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
What should you bring?
- Pay Stubs (most recent available 30 days)
- Monthly Mortgage Statement (most recent available)
- Property Tax Bill (most recent available) If you don't have a copy of your tax bill, most counties have them available online. Just google your county's tax commissioner and you should be able to pull it up by looking under property tax with your address.
- Homeowners Insurance Bill (most recent available)

There are alternatives to an Atlanta foreclosure. A loan modification for eligible homeowners is a great first step. (A loan modification is when the interest rate is adjusted to a lower more affordable rate,) I hear from a lot of people that they have tried loan modifications in the past and weren't accepted. I suggest trying again.
If a loan modification doesn't work, a short sale (where the bank agrees to take less than what is owed on the property) can be an option in order to avoid a foreclosure.
