Forget the Noise
As I blogged about yesterday, you need to be able to ignore the negativity constantly surrounding you. Having the right mindset is necessary for success in this industry and for happiness in everyday life. This is what I needed to get my just start in Milford CT real estate.
There are so many things in life that we need to worry about, so how does one stay focused?
Only Worry About the Things within Your Control
My son who's an avid CrossFitter told me about this speaker in the CrossFit world who studies the mindset of elite athletes - Greg Amundson. His studies show that these athletes have some kind of positive mindset, mantra, or positive self-talk.
Greg says that when you only worry about the things within your control, you feel happier, less stressed, and more driven. Think about it - there's no use in stressing about the things beyond your control. Work hard for the things that are in your power.
I tell myself that I will have another great year in 2011, that I will do better than last year with Milford CT homes for sale. It's unfortunate to see other Realtors fall down the wayside with the negative self-talk:
"The real estate market is terrible."
"I'm not going to make any sales."
Yes, things are tough right now, but it's up to YOU to change things.
I wake up every morning, have my coffee (<3 my Keurig), and plan out my day. It's through this routine that I jumpstart my day in hopes of conquering the upcoming tasks and obstacles. Rather than be a slave to life, take control of life and turn dreams into reality. It doesn't hurt to dream, as long as you TAKE ACTION.
So I'll leave you with a quote:
"Be a dreamer. If you don't know how to dream, you're dead."
Do you have your own mantra or positive self-talk?
