Catholic School in Golden Valley, MN is now a virtual pet shop

Industry Observer

Good Shepherd School, In Golden Valley, MN is having its annual fundraiser tonight.  It is a nice enough event, with cocktails, dinner, and an auction, and its intent to raise funds to improve the school's educational offerings is an admirable cause worth support.

The school, however, in an act that I feel lacked adequate consideration, has chosen to auction off a Golden Retriever puppy.  The pup will go to the highest bidder, perhaps the one who has made some questionable choices in the cocktail department earlier in the evening.  Perhaps, the high bidder will be someone who is capable and understands the responsibility that comes with owning a large breed dog.  Perhaps not.

Live pups are not plush toys to be played with by the kids, and then tossed into the toy box.  They should be purchased after careful research and consideration.  An auction is not the place to dispose of any dog.

If you feel as strongly as I do that this good school is making a serious mistake, please contact them and suggest that they remove the pup from their auction list this evening.
