The Kansas Farm Report has some interesting farm facts regarding farmland and cropland in Kansas.

In 2009 there were: 28,216,064 acres of cropland, 46,200,000 acres of land in farms and 2,762,748 acres of irrigated land.

In 2009 the total fertilizer sold in Kansas was 1,902,649 tons. 

The annual average precipitation for Kansas for 2009 was 32.32 inches of water.

The average temperature in Kansas for 2009 was 53.2 degrees fahrenheit.

The total acres harvested in Kansas was 21,875,800 acres (total of all crops).

The number of livestock farms in operation in 2007 in Kansas were 30,000 and 200 feedlots and 95 slaughter plants. Of farms in operation in Kansas 26,000 were beef cow farms, 780 milk cow farms, 1,500 hog farms and 1,200 sheep farms.

In 2009 there were 9,000 colonies for hone production with a 63 pound yield per colony and 567,000 pounds of production honey.  The value was around 1.89 per pound and total value of production $1,072,000.

The average cash rents for farmland were $43.50 for non-irrigated cropland and $89.00 per acre for irrigated cropland and $15.50 per acre for pasture in 2009.

In 2009 the average value of farmland in Kansas was $1500/acre for irrigated cropland, $1000/acre for non-irrigated cropland and $1050/acre for all cropland.  The value of pasture and rangeland was $750 per acre for 2009.

The average size of a farm in Kansas in 2009 was 705 acres compared to 1999 it was 731 acres and in 1959 it was 444 acres.

In 1900 the average yield per bushel of Kansas wheat was 18.2 and the lowest record was 8 bushel in 1895.

Bushel weights:  Wheat & soybean = 60 lbs.  Corn, sorghum & rye = 56 lbs.  Barley grain = 48 lbs.  and Oats = 32 lbs.
