We had a chimney standing like that in McDonough, GA when we lived up there a few years back. We passed it about 3 times a week and it always made me feel sad and wonder what happened to those folks.
Good shot. Scenes like this make all us wonder about the history of the property.

Jennifer....I have always thought the same thing......Thanks!
Rob,
Your photo and the caption certainly begs the question! I recall in another state that I lived in there was a vacant lot in the middle of the subdivision off the main road. The lot was overgrown with weeds and nobody talked about it - despite the fact that it had a gigantic statue of Christ in the middle of the lot! I mean this statue was one of the biggest statues I ever saw in my life time and it was very, very old.
Nobody seemed to care about it until the day it disappeared. We all shook our heads and said, how could something that BIG disappear in the middle of the night and none of us noticed anything suspicious! Who carried it away? How did they get it out of there? Everybody, I mean everybody was talking about it, including the local media and nobody had any answers, nor did we even know who the lot belonged to!
As it turned out, before the subdivision was built, the land belonged to some non-profit organization and the land had an orphanage, an infirmary and farmland. The orphanage and infirmary was used during the war. The only thing that remained was the statute and because of its size, the developer left it alone. We never did find out who stole the statue or where it went.
So, Joshua is right after all, behind every great photo, there's a story! I hope you get to find out what the story is on that chimney.
Patricia
Patricia....I hope to one day go back and try and find out the story of each one.....especially after reading yours.......Thanks!
