You don't go many places these days in the real estate world without running into questions or discussions about how to save money on utility bills. As gas prices go up, so moves the electric and power bills.
In Florida it feels like we may be reaching a "tipping point." Builders and contractors that once scoffed at the idea of environmentalists and conservation are seen attending builders' seminars on LEEDS certification and US Green Building Council criteria. School Districts are finally coordinating the recycling programs that were mandated by the state legislature some years ago. And commercial and residential buyers are inquiring about energy savings and green or sustainable building practices. (Yea!)
For those of you interested in learning more about these issues, Florida State University and the Council for Sustainable Florida are co-hosting the 2007 "Getting to Green" Campus & Community Sustainabilty Conference October 13-16 in lovely Tallahassee, Florida!

Check out the website... the preliminary program is out for your view. The breakout sessions are covering a wide variety of topics, many of which you may find useful in assisting your customers, from better planning for subdivisions to healthier ways to clean buildings.
They are also offering LEEDS training at a discount rate if that's something you are interested in taking.
