Arlington,VA Amenities Attract Agents -
Buying Big Breakfast - Cassatt's Cafe - Delicious!

Imagine the scene - it is the beginning of 2011.  Two agents decide to make the jump into cyber-space. One is in
Atlanta, GA and one in Arlington, VA.  Strangers stepping to the same starting point from different ages, backgrounds and states.  No connection exists between them as they begin.  Who would think that in a few short weeks they would be having breakfast together?

Parallel paths appear as they traverse the technology.  Both attend AR University Webinar
s. Both have things they want to say. Ready or not - it is time to get into the water!  They decide to take the BLOG plunge.  Each sinks, then swims and eventually soars.  By February, both post first blogs on Active Rain.

AR members comment on their "newbie" posts. Both proudly read the comments.  The AR Book/Quiz Challenge, Surviving your Serengeti, beckons and they both enter.
Arlington receives a comment from the author himself!  They post again, receiving and enjoying comments both about their content and  to welcome  them to the AR community.

History repeats itself as it has done thousands of times before - ActiveRain steals their hearts. They are happily "in the Rain" with the whole community, now over 200,000 professionals strong. Update June 2018 - although all do not post regularly, now over 300,000 members signed up!

Week by week they read each other's contributions.  One questions the other about a tech problem. Their email correspondence grows as they share "newbie" excitement and wonder.  They are convinced -  becoming a RAINMAKER was a GREAT choice - AR is AWESOME!

Seeing pictures, the agents "know" each other.  Reading posts and comments, the agents "know" each other a little more as they read the other's opinions. "Arlington is a superb writer," thinks Atlanta. "Clear ideas and thorough presentation."  "Atlanta is always willing to share tech tips and ideas," Arlington observes.

By the end of February, a nascent friendship forming, they agree to meet in March.  Cassatt's Cafe and Gallery,
in Lee Heights Shops, near Cherrydale and Mayfield neighborhoods in Arlington, VA, wins the "Where should we eat?" discussion.  Thus Arlington, VA amenities attract agents to buy a big breakfast at Cassatt's Cafe, anticipating delicious food.

As time did its usual trick of disappearing, the "connection" day has come and gone. Good company and good food - what else could someone want? Cassat's Cafe delivered what it promised - fresh food, simple yet elegant presentation, delightfully cooked with a flair. During the meal, Atlanta said, "I feel as if I am back in touch with a lost college friend." Arlington said, "Imagine! Our first time together and I feel that we have been friends for a long time." They enjoyed a really comfortable time together.

Lynn, I truly enjoyed meeting you and having breakfast together. I felt as if I've known you for years. ActiveRain is a magical place to be, where people from different backgrounds get together and share: their lives, experiences, and friendship. I look forward to many more idea exchanges with you.

Lynn, On February 5th, twenty five AR members got together for lunch. It started out with 2 of us deciding to meet...much like you and Elizabeth. There are many posts about this gathering and others in Baltimore.

@Elizabeth - Hope you liked the picture!

@Margaret - I'll set the table for you the next time you are in Atlanta! And we'll invite other Atlanta folks ... Have been involved in working on a project in a Baltimore cemetery.  When I went there last year to put the computer research to the test on the ground, I learned a lot of history of Baltimore!  A complicated but interesting city.

Thanks for both of your comments.
Have a happy day -

Lynn, This is really exciting.  I've wanted to meet with others on AR and it just hasn't worked out.  I am going to try again on Saturday when I travel to Salt Lake City.  You mentioned a computer project involved with the cemetery -- it catches my curious mind (my curious cat has a lot of influence on me).  Is it something that would make an interesting post?

Dear Gary -
My advice about meeting others?
TRY, TRY and TRY again to meet up.
Meeting Elizabeth was a wonderful experience.
(No, no blog re:cemetery project.)

Lynn, I just wanted to let you know I've seen the CORAL exhibit at the Natural History Museum. You are right, it is amazing. I couldn't believe how creative some people are! I wish I had just a fraction of their creativity. Good to hear from you.
