I was heading to go bask in the sun when something on the tube caught my eye. Most of the time, if the television is on…you best believe it’s going to be on the I.D. channel. I’m a sucker for mystery and have stock in 48 hours (kind of, not really). Today, I accidently made it to the travel channel, an obvious mistake because I’m not a traveler. Well, not leisurely but I do run up the mileage showing rental property. So, there was an unusual show on the travel channel called “Extreme Competitions”. I would explain what the show is about but the title kind of gives it away. Okay, what caught my eye was not the fabulous bum contest but the quirky, best beard contest. It was so unusual but yet so intriguing. While I’m sure you are aware that there are different ways to grow and style your beard, did you know that these styles have their own name? Am I a day late on this? It was pretty fun watching the men compete for the gold in their category. I continued to wait for a woman to take the ribbon, but….sorry, just thought that would have been hilarious. I was so into this beard contest. I wanted to figure out a way to incorporate the topic into my blog because I wanted to share my new hairy discovery.
You are not going to believe what happened after I hit Google, “Baton Rouge Beard”…..wait for it…..Baton Rouge is having their first beard contest this April 14, 2011. Can you believe that? According to 225 Magazine, Kevin Martin has created the first “Baton Rouge Beard Association”! The “Baton Rouge Beard Association” not only offer men a place to sport their beards but also a chance to become involved with charity work. I want to publicly welcome this new association into the redstick community and I will see you (and your beards) on April 14, 2011 at the Bulldog in Baton Rouge! Fear The Beard!
