I have always considered myself very fortunate in the Clients I work with.
We stay in contact, exchange personal news and have a genuine affection for each other!
I just closed on a property with a Seller who had also purchased through me. Our prolonged relationship translated to an easy comfortable partnership.
A few weeks ago I was running back and forth with an offer on this Clients property (I was also working with the Buyer). I was set to meet the Seller at 4:00.
At 2:00 I got a call from a Potential Buyer who expressed interest in a property I have listed about 45 minutes away. This particular property has had very few showings so I was very eager to make this appointment. I suggested to the faceless voice that we meet later that evening or perhaps the next morning. (By the way the property is empty!)
Well ....that wasn't going to work for him. He was from out of the area, visiting a friend, and this was it! He also indicated a Cash Sale!
Time wise I could just make it ....and be back for 4:00. But I was uncomfortable with the whole thing.
If I am ever in a situation of meeting with someone I don't know in an empty property....I drag my husband along. My husband was not home! I asked my 24 year old son who.... had plans, would be late for work, hadn't taken his shower.....whine, whine, whine...you know how it is! And I had the typical Mother laying of the guilt response....he would feel badly when they found my body etc, etc.
I decided to "bite the bullet"
I called my 4:00 Client to confirm our appointment and in our conversation he indicated he as just "hanging out". Well I decided I had nothing to lose by appealing to his Chivalry. I explained my situation and he quickly offered to ride along....now that is over and above!
He rode the 45 minutes up and back...the maybe Buyer wasn't (it wasn't what he had in mind...not enough privacy) and we got back in time to complete the Sale of my Sellers place.
We are so lucky to be in a profession that allows us to develop personal relationships.
Connecting with others is what it's all about!
It's not just about being a Client or about being a Friend....many of them are Both.
