New Hampshire has long been known for it's awesome fall colors and trying to gauge just when the right time to go leaf peeping is can be hard.

A few days makes a big difference in the colors you'll see.

I found this cool tool for trying to figure out when the best time will be to enjoy New Hampshire's vibrant fall colors!

Are you a leaf peeper? If so this is an awesome site for mapping out the "At Peak" times.

Jay and I were up in Bretton Woods NH at the Mount Washington Resort this past week.

It was the New Hampshire Association of REALTORS annual convention and what a perfect spot it was.

Monika, the weather around here has been crazy, we have hit 90 this week.  The trees are just now beginning to change and that is a little late for us.  The Fall is one of my favorite times of the year, especially watching the Yankees win the World Series makes it real special :)

GO YANKEES!!! ......... LOL

Monika -- I really missed no getting up to the White Mtns, but had prior family plans that made it impossible this year.  I can't wait for fall -- it is my favorite time of year!  Thank for the preview.  Hope you and Jay enjoyed the convention.

Hi Monika - What a gorgeous place! I'd love sitting on that porch with a cup of coffee. How pretty and relaxing it looked! I hope you all had a great time at your convention. What a perfect place to have it.

Monika - Based on the photos you provided I get see that the fall foliage would look great against those back drop.  I am sure the tool to figure foliage peak will come in handy.

Hi Monika - it was, as always, a gorgeous place to be!  Even with all the construction going on all over the place, it's just wonderful to be there.

I heard about at least 2 ghostly experiences while we were there.  One was someone who was flying down the stairs trying to get away from what had just happened to her.  She was white as could be and absolutely as cold as could be.  Her experience as she was telling me about it gave me instant goosebumps, she was covered in them, too.

I love that foliage site - I've used it for awhile now, and it's pretty accurate.

Monika...  Nice foliage monitor, we usually make our last trip up to the cabin in Maine on Columbus Day Weekend, should be colorful.   Small world.... A guy I've known for years has a place at Bretton Woods, think he said he's heading there this weekend for an owners association meeting.

Linda...It is gorgeous and full of history. Our convention will be there next year as well.

Jennifer...My photos definitely pale in comparison to the real thing.

Ann...An other REALTOR encountered "something" as well. I wonder if the ghost is upset with all the construction??

Dan...Where is your cottage in Maine? Jay and I go to Maine often...we love it!

We're in Leeds... not really much of tourist destination but a quiet retreat.

I heard that someone captured an 'orb' on their camera, and that it's very similar to one captured in the past that was used in a newspaper article some time ago.  I think there's a notebook at the front desk or somewhere in the front that has that picture and the article in it.

I hope they're not disturbing anything in the ghost's room - that really is up on the 3rd floor.  That's where the person I ran into had her experience, and where she was running from when I saw her.

Ooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhh............a little creepy!

That looks like it is near Augusta. There is a campground called Augusta West on a pretty lake up near there. Great kayaking or so I've been told. Is that near you?

The other agent saw something on the 1st floor which is really weird as all sightings have been on the 3rd floor as far as I know.

Creepy is right!!!! I would freak out for sure.

BTW...did you have a camera with you during the installation ceremony? I'm looking for a picture of Jay?

Sigh, how I miss the NE this time of year. I never knew about the MT Washington Hotel, but I know about Mt Washington, been to the top and been thru that wind. We don't have much fall folige here, so take a lot of photos for me please? I can enjoy it through your camera :) Thanks for the tour! You did a fine job! (would have loved to hear more about the sighting!)

I just googled the campground and I actually do my July 4th 5k Run on the east side of that lake.  If you look at their location map, pick a point near the left side of the map and pan right you can see my area -Androscoggin Lake.

Dan,

We met a couple who camp there and kayak that lake. Jay and I were going to try and book a weekend there next summer. Or later this fall if it's open. Campgrounds close early in Maine and NH due to weather. It sounded so pretty.

Lysa...The ghost is named Carolyn (I think) and many people have seen her. Jay and I had an awesome room on the 2nd floor...very old, high ceilings, fire place and a huge jacuzzi tub in the corner...very romantic. I'm glad I didn't encounter Carolyn...it would have ruined the mood.

Monika...that picture of the Mount looks like a postcard!

That has to be my favorite place!

We were going to head North this weekend but now I think we'll wait till next and hope the weather will hold...

Monika - no camera, and I was in line right ahead of the 2 of you so even if I had had a camera, I wouldn't have caught you.   You might check with Gail A.  She seemed to be taking pictures of all of us as we were announced that night.  I know she stepped out and took some of me as I walked towards her, and I assume she did the same with each of us as Past State Presidents that night.

Room 314 - the room where the 3rd floor ghost hangs out and has been seen the most.  The encounter I know about was in the hallway Tuesday night a little after midnight.  I need to make sure I NEVER stay in that room or in room 206 - who wants to room with a 'malevolent woman'???  Yikes!  I prefer the rooms we had anyway.

Rick and I took the Historic Walking Tour of the Hotel, and that was very enlightening.  Some of the ghosts were talked about on that tour.  Did you know the hotel staff is not supposed to discuss any ghosts or supernatural goings-on that may or may not have taken place at the hotel?

The colors are pretty now up there, but I agree in thinking next weekend will be even better.  We may head up there then, too.

Ann,

I did get Gail's pictures but she did not have one of Jay when he got the Distinguished Service award. That is what I was hoping you might have had.

I did know that the staff is forbidden to mention anything to do with ghosts. I guess the Hotel is a little bit sensitive about it all. Can't say that I blame them. I know I was a little wigged out when we stayed in the Tower room. Didn't want to be alone up there....

Hmm, I'm surprised Gail didn't get that picture.  Maybe check with Dave at NHAR to see if he got it?  He was taking pics, too.

I'll check with Dave, Gail had every other shot imaginable but not that one.

I wonder if there is a book out about the history of the hotel? Have you ever seen anything like that?

Hi Moni,

Ah yes... Mount Washington - one of my favorite places to go.  This makes me want to come back for that Fall Foliage.  We seem to get so wrapped up every year that we miss it somehow.  I'll be checking out more links on this post.  Great job and I do enjoy the pictures.  That fear of heights of mine gets in the way of enjoying it in reality :( but once I was up there it really was quite awesome.  Thanks for sharing.
